Hi all,

I was caught speeding today I believe, by a van over the A46 in Warwick. Just come off the M40, joined A46, and for no particular reason other than moving over to let people onto the A46 merging from the left, I crept up to approx 80mph I think. I saw the van on the bridge, looked at speedo, realised my mistake, did not bother braking at all as a) I was speeding, and b) not a good move on a relatively quick moving road.

100% hold my hands up to it, hence not bothering to slow down. And not going to complain, one of those things, in 20 odd years of driving, and doing 50k plus a year, it will be my first one, (took my eye off the ball there!) and thats including thousands of miles in a camper, plus my M3, let alone my commute from the Midlands to London daily. So please no "you should be locked up" and "don't try and squirm out of it".

Got home, and you know when you are a little paranoid, checked tax, insurance, MOT etc on all vehicles! all good. Got my driving licence out. Balls! didn't change the address on that when I moved a while back.

Quickly went on to the Gov website, registered, and changed address (seemless I admit!, I was told you couldnt do that!) and they said new licence out to me in 2 weeks, please cut up old, and send back to DVLA. All good.

My concern is, the NIP, or whatever it is now, gets sent to the previous address before details are updated. Will this cause me an issue. I'm going to pay either way if I was indeed over. But want it sorted straight away. Will the delay in me changing address cause any issues?

Thanks in advance!

W

They don't prosecute under 79mph if it's a NSL dual carraigeway. If your speedo says 80mph you're probably doing more like 75mph. I wouldn't worry to be honest.

Cheers guys.

The only item I cant find for all my vehicles is the log book for the Mondeo (that I was caught in)

As it goes to RK, I wanted to be sure I changed that (as that could be old address too)

If that is wrong, (when I find it) will that cause me issues?

Thanks again

No doubt about it the nip will go to the address of the registered keeper on your v5 log book.
How long ago did you move?

Ah,

A while back, thought I had all bases covered!....it seems not!

Driving licence now sorted, all other cars are fine. But I have a horrible feeling that the Mondeo might be old address still. (still looking for it as I type!)

Thanks

You might have to pop round the old place and talk real nice to the new occupants tongue out
Probably been gone too long for you to set up forwarding with royal mail?
Change the rk online ASAP and call the dvla to explain, they can be surprisingly helpful, sometimes.

Thanks, I will do.

I have found everything so far to be pretty good, changing everything I need to etc, and people seem to be helpful.

My ex used to do all the paperwork (see thread "being told I don't love you anymore" biggrin which I started many moons ago. I have since met another nutter, and I thought I had everything sorted. (I am now a domestic godess!) but a few things have slipped me by!

Thanks

That road often has 'Safety Vans' on the bridges between M40 and Coventry.

Hopefully an indicated 80 will be lower than an actual 79.

Might even be lower than that. Fingers crossed!

Keep the old licence, and send it back when you get the new one. Tell the DVLA you need to keep it for ID purposes until you receive the new one. That works.
