What that really says is that Graham knows trump wont win, but wont tell him that, and knows that the decision will be challenged in the courts and the injunction will allow the government to be reopened...
So again the GOP won't stand upto trump

I think initially they thought trump gave them votes - which he does to an extent, but I think the trump investigation will come back to bite many GOP members, who will have taken money from the NRA etc as usual but got additional funding, or advertising paid for, than usual and this will turn out to be foreign, illegal money. I think many know this thats why they still support trump, hoping it wont ever come out.

The NY Times are reporting that law enforcement officials were so concerned by Trump's actions after firing Comey that the FBI began investigating whether Trump was a Russian agent.

The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow’s influence.

Agents and senior F.B.I. officials had grown suspicious of Mr. Trump’s ties to Russia during the 2016 campaign but held off on opening an investigation into him, the people said, in part because they were uncertain how to proceed with an inquiry of such sensitivity and magnitude. But the president’s activities before and after Mr. Comey’s firing in May 2017, particularly two instances in which Mr. Trump tied the Comey dismissal to the Russia investigation, helped prompt the counterintelligence aspect of the inquiry.

This is where we have got to with the trump investigation. If we hadn't had every other scandal around trump, this would be major news.

I can't wait to see Giuliani charged, how far can someone fall after 9/11. His leaks from the FBI NY agents had a direct impact on Comeys actions.

Will it really hurt them that much? I think the smarter GoP playrs have already bailed or have exit plans, Paul Ryan as an example, other big hitters are waiting in the wings. But of a tory situation here I think, Trump is the GoP's brexit, on which side will they fall. Brexit hasn't split the tory party, and may not, but will trump help fracture the gop party?

There are some similarities to the UK. The Government must pass a Finance Act every year in order to collect income and corporation tax as these expire each year (however, VAT is permanent).

The Government has a interim period of a few months to pass a Finance Act after the end of the tax year. However, if they still can't pass one then they have to return all income and corporation tax collected in the period.

They could, in theory, still continue in power without these taxes but collect VAT (can't amend it though) and borrow the rest.

In reality, the Government would fall and there would be a General Election.


I wonder just how many changes the Americans will look to make once Trump's presidency is over.

Why are we now finding out that the FBI started an investigation into trump as a russian agent
Why did Manaforts lawyers put in a document proof that there was collusion/conspracy, then make that available 'mistakenly'

Any link to William Barr's start of confirmation hearings into becoming Attorney General? After all the Attorney General overseas the FBI



Edit: And it’s long been reported that Donald Trump drafted a letter explaining his firing of James Comey which was highly self-incriminating, but then White House Counsel Don McGahn intervened and convinced Trump not to send it, and that the unsent letter eventually ended up in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s hands.

The NY Times piece reveals that the FBI had a copy of the letter at the time it opened the counterintelligence probe, before Mueller was even hired. So who gave it to the FBI? McGahn? We know he was assisting the trump investigation later on, did he start much earlier than thought?
