The House Intelligence Committee is investigating whether lawyers tied to President Trump and his family helped obstruct the panel’s inquiry into Russian election interference by shaping false testimony, a series of previously undisclosed letters from its chairman show.

The line of inquiry stems from claims made by the president’s former personal lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen, who told Congress earlier this year that the lawyers in question helped edit false testimony that he provided to Congress in 2017 about a Trump Tower project in Moscow. Mr. Cohen said they also dangled a potential pardon to try to ensure his loyalty.

In recent weeks, the committee sent lengthy document requests to four lawyers — Jay Sekulow, who represents the president; Alan S. Futerfas, who represents Donald Trump Jr.; Alan Garten, the top lawyer at the Trump Organization; and Abbe D. Lowell, who represents Ivanka Trump.

Chairman Schiff to four Trump world lawyers: "among other things, it appears that your clients may have reviewed, shaped and edited the false statement that [Michael] Cohen submitted to the committee, including causing the omission of material facts"

Donald Trump Jr. and the Senate Intelligence Committee have reached a deal for Trump Jr. to sit for a private interview in the coming weeks, NYT reports.

Questions will be limited to about a half-dozen topics. Time no longer than two to four hours.

I'm not sure having lied to them once that trump jnr should get any concessions. They should have issued the subpoena. The Dems are just looking weak now

It's not all good news for trump jnr though, as he's been summoned back for lying. So his options are:

1. Repeat the same lies to the Senate Intelligence Committee he already told under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee, which would probably lead to him being charged for perjury. Barr probably wouldn't let this go far, but politically that would be another strong indicator to the public of the coverup - so much for 'No Collusion'.

2. He could admit he lied to the Senate Intel Committee, leading him open again to perjury charges, but try to claim ignorance again? Barr would again protect him but politically that leave the charge that trump jnr lied to protect trump and Barr is running obstruction again.

3. Or he could take Lynsey Grahams advive and show up to the hearing and only plead the Fifth in response to questions, but that again would leave trump jnr and hence trump looking like they are covering up.

None of them are good options which is why trump jnr was trying not to testify, but it looks like he agreed after being push by GOP Senate who wanted to avoid the no-win scenario of having to vote on whether or not to hold trump jnr in contempt

Florida 2018 elections were hacked by the russians, where Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and Republican Senator Rick Scott pulled off surprising victories. Now these pair are saying they were hacked but it didn't affect the election as they try to set the narrative early.

However there's plenty of evidence that voters were turned away, in a similar occurance to those in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania in 2016

I'm baffled as to how the interviewee gets to set the agenda and timescale?

Pandering to him before you've even asked a question.

Federal Judge Amit Mehta has told trumps lawyers they have forty-eight hours to submit any evidence to make his case about why his financial records shouldn’t be turned over, and then another forty-eight hours after that, the judge is prepared to make a ruling. He's made clear that he doesn’t see any legal precedent for ruling that Donald Trump’s financial records shouldn’t be turned over to Congress on the 18th.

Updated that after reading another article, it seems the GOP senators pushed for the compromise so they didn't have to vote on holding him in contempt. Still not good for Jnr though

The US-China trade war continues to heat up as Beijing calls for a "people's war" against Washington, and President Donald Trump threatens to impose tariffs on another $300 billion worth of Chinese goods.

In a series of editorials and op-eds published on Monday, Chinese state media slammed the Trump administration's "greed and arrogance," and called for a "people's war" against it. Beijing's state-run media effectively serve as mouthpieces for the Communist Party.

The Kremlin’s spokesman says U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo didn’t offer President Vladimir Putin any reassurances or ease Moscow’s concerns over the ongoing crisis between the United States and Iran.

Pompeo met with Putin on Tuesday in Russia’s resort of Sochi where he sought to alleviate some of the concerns about the spiraling tensions but made clear the U.S. would respond to any attacks on American targets.

In fairness, he does have bipartisan support for bringing China to heel.
Sadly, tariffs that screw the consumer aren't the way to do it. Just ask Harley!
yes Whilst I don't entirely agree with the strategy he's taking (and specifically the way he's bullstting about it), I do agree that taking a hardline approach with China is the only way to get things to change.
I also agree. However, if The Great Dealmaker knew the difference between his arse and his elbow he could have dealt with the situation differently. Imagine how effective tariffs could have been if he had managed to get the EU onside?

Lyndsey Graham is fully trumped up now. Makes thinly veiled threat to drop the investigation into trump jnr or he'll start one into Hunter Biden:

Sen. Lindsey Graham: "I'm afraid that we're beginning to prosecute each other for political reasons & I don't want any part of that. I don't want any part of destroying the Biden family, the Trump family...Having said that, Don Jr. is not above the law. Neither is Hunter Biden."

Alabama has passed a bill banning abortion, even in cases of incest and rape.

It's alarming to ponder just how medieval America might get before trump is out of office.

Ridiculous.

I assume and hope those victims of rape and incest can go to another state to have one carried out if they so desire?

But then in Georgia, they will prosecute those who go out of state for that as well
