Thanks for the sciencedaily link which has numbers. The bbc link as expected has more armwaving faith statements couched in conditional language.

It's not vegan as such but this was of interest "A low-fat vegetarian diet is very efficient in terms of how much land is needed to support it. But adding some dairy products and a limited amount of meat may actually increase this efficiency, Cornell researchers suggest."

Time, and now space, for a Big Mac wink

No hard numbers on water per person as opposed to per glass, unless I missed them, apologies in advance if so.

The BBC article includes the reference to the research paper.

Gas per glass not water per person.

Do vegans suffer from constipation? Reminds me of the constipated mathematician - he eventually worked it out with a pencil too...

The authorities in Scotland are encouraging kids to take the day off school to attend the next round of protests with at least four councils, all SNP ones, allowing for an “authorised absence”

Councils give pupils Friday off to join climate change protests

laugh

TheTimes said:
There do not appear to be any arrangements to ensure that children attend the protests and do not simply use them as an excuse for a free day.

Again the hypocrisy of it, a national where one of its main exports is oil and gas Millon's of tons a year but if they encourage kids to skip school it will help to make up for it. The damage they are and have done to the environment.

If we keep going like this the world will only last for another hundred years or so, which really isn’t long enough.

Most of my friends have said the strike is a good idea.
That's all a bit too little too late. The infamous 'climate author' Prince Charles warned in July 2009 that humanity had only 96 months to save the world. We're not here now. PH is merely a fading pixellated collective consciousness after we sizzled in our own juices back in 2017.

this is what happens when you have to get in bed with the greens to ensure control of the scottish parliament. one of the councils happens to be mine and the local mp lives across the road from my father. handy that, i should be able to have a bit of fun with this.

maybe local councillors should be doing what they are paid to do instead of virtue signalling . in my area they certainly have many immediate issues that need addressed.pupils taking the day off school might not make much difference considering the chronic under staffing in many scottish schools.

Translate for yourselves, here's a summary.

There's more to the Thunberg (striking student) phenomenon than meets the eye.

16-year-old Swede Greta Thunberg is now regarded by much of the media as a “figurehead of the climate protection movement”. The student gained worldwide fame through her appearance at the UN Climate Change Conference in Katowice, Poland. Most recently, she appeared at the World Economic Summit in Davos.

Their (striking students') success is largely down to the Swedish PR expert Ingmar Rentzhog, who has good contacts in several propaganda organizations.

There's a fair bit of coverage at the mo and outside alarmist green advocacy blogs not much is on the kids' side.

This is the Wall street Journal.

On Climate, the Kids Are All Wrong
And a band of ignorant brats shall lead them: Some things have hardly changed since 1212

It's all a government distraction technique from the impending social crisis that the baby-boomers have left us with.

It's like baby boomers are trying to distract from the fact that everything is their fault; housing crisis, populist politics, rise in cost of Freddos and environmental mismanagement.

But they're focusing on the one thing that they can claim is everyone else's fault.

If tomorrow is anything like today I suspect that some protests might be cancelled due to bad weather.

Children Climate Strike Inspired By Green Indoctrination

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-03-14/politically...

Snips from the Link said:
Students striking over climate change inaction have been described as victims of "politically correct teaching" and include some who are "barely literate or numerate".

Dr Kevin Donnelly, a conservative commentator and senior research fellow at the Australian Catholic University, claimed the movement was the product of "biased" academics and failings in education.

"We're going backwards in international testing in terms of maths, science and English, and I really suggest they should be putting the effort into raising standards rather than stunts like this."
Attending lessons...there's a thought, if only a greater numjber of independent critical thinking sessions were available.

I’ve just taken this photo in Birmingham city centre where there are hundreds of kids and a few lefty teachers shouting into megaphones. Lots of socialist related banners...

Edit- the picture has come out horizontal. Banner says ‘Socialist change not climate change’
