Why are the French good at protesting but useless at war?
Discussion
I’m not sure that Napoleon would have agreed with you, or the many armies he defeated across Europe.
Or the BEF lads who fought a rear guard action alongside the French and helping so many to get off the beaches at Dunkirk.
But you’re right that they do seem to like a good barricade don’t they?

One of history's most irritating conclusions is that the French, under Napoleon, were one of the best, if not the best, European armies. Or the BEF lads who fought a rear guard action alongside the French and helping so many to get off the beaches at Dunkirk.

The French riots in the 60s were something else. They were mega. All we could mount was youths throwing stones at undefended coppers in Grosvenor Square. Wimps in comparison.
What ridiculous xenophobic statement to start a thread! The French protest because, unlike we British who are too sheepish and scared to protest, they actually have the courage to stand up for what they believe in.
They turn 'yellow' on the battlefield? What battlefield would that be? WWII? That one 76 years ago, where the mighty British Army of about 400,000 men, in only a matter of weeks, were forced back in retreat to Dunkirk, and left the French to fend for themselves.

Sadly ultimately a French loss but fought one like a bd and was honoured by the Germans on the defeat.

I for one, would be very happy to hear of the OP's many battles and conflicts where they bravely defeated countless enemies.......
Or did he just (wet) dream all about it?
