Climate protesters block roads

It’s official; PH is 90% thicko’s.
People on here arguing against scientific fact; upset at the ‘crusties’ demonstrating and many want to mute other posters who disagree with them. How about grow a pair and keep it moving. Some of you chaps could really do with sorting some sort of life out for yourselves. Genuinely. It’s wall to wall manchild.
I’ll just leave this here for a laugh (perhaps it’s already been posted):

Regardless of what you believe I don’t mind people protesting but when it turns into a situation like this where they are interfering with day to day life, then they need to be moved on, by whatever means necessary.
That hypocrite Emma Thompson when asked about the drain on Police resources blames it on the government and the Police, as they are “not burning things down.”
So Emma, taking over various streets in London, stopping “law abiding” citizens going about their daily lives, costing businesses millions in lost revenue, gluing yourselves to trains, Smashing a rotating door at an oil companies offices, parking a crap pink boat in the middle of Oxford Street, having hippy street parties wherever you feel like it and causing transport chaos is perfectly acceptable and the Police should just let you carry on, all so you and your eco warriors can continue your crusade for weeks on end causing misery to thousands. Really she has lived in her luvvie bubble for too long, and needs a dose of reality.
I wonder how she would feel if she was late for a film shoot or media appearance because of a protest.

Btw there is a climate change science thread where some of this can be discussed, feel free to go over there and post proper peer reviewed scientific data that incontrovertibly proves the human fingerprint on climate change and carbon emissions. Good luck with that.

this is something i am in favour of. i point blank refuse to own an iphone due to the utter fkwittery that surrounds the "brand" and the amount of people that see having the latest iteration as something of major importance in their life. the constant push for growth is an unsustainable nonsense and needs a serious rethink.
Side point but Apple are actually seeing falling sales as people keep devices longer and since the iPhone 6 they all have a very similar form factor, screen size, dual facing cameras. Whilst networks put them on 24 month contracts, people acclimatise to keeping them longer than even that with little consequence LDN said:

Although Jonathan pie is a tt, does he have a sister called "Milf Cream" by any chance?, because I see a lot of women with that name on the websites I visit (until July).

It's about time that overpopulation was taken seriously, and accepted as the primary causal factor for all the environmental issues that humans are responsible for. It has been estimated (for example) that each child in the USA will increase its parents green footprint 5.7 times. https://www.livescience.com/9701-save-planet-kids.... and I suspect that the UK isn't far behind.
When I was born the global population was 2.7 billion. It's now 7.2 billion and rising. Before long the global population will have grown by 5 billion within my lifetime, and shortly after that it will have tripled since I was born.
I'm staggered by how many people consider having children to be an absolute right, rather than a privilege - even if they can't actually afford to have children. The state will pay the bills, after all.
Ever noticed that 'Earth Mother' types often have enormous broods of children, whom they want to save the planet for. The hypocrisy of this seems to elude them.
The only solution is to make having more than one child as socially unacceptable as smoking in public places. To further the cause child benefit should be phased out - not for those children who have already been born, but a rolling programme over a number of years until we get to the point where to have children you have to fund them yourself. That would be an incentive to work hard for a living, and would stop the feckless from using their children as cash cows. I'd like to see financial incentives for married couples who don't have children.
While we're at it, we can insist that foreign aid is linked to contraception programs and better healthcare for children. As the child mortality rate improves there will be a lesser need for large families, and freely available contraception will make that possible.
On top of this we need to recognise that the more technologically advanced a society becomes, more more of the Earth's natural resources it uses per head. We need to accept that we need to make our stuff last longer, rather than building in redundancy to improve sales, and that means ensuring that everything is upgradable wherever possible, and that absolutely everything, including all packaging, is recyclable.
I wonder how many of those protesting would be happy to limit themselves to a single child, do without unnecessary technology, like playstations, run a phone for five or more years, own a maximum of two cars per family - irrespective of family size - rather than have one car per adult and live-at-home manchild / womanchild offspring? Many of the protestors are the cause of the problem, not the solution.
Very good post. As the Reverend Goatboy said a long time ago; "There are too many fking people in the world. Somebody needs to say that, by the way. Let's work out this food/air deal, then go back to your rutting," When I was born the global population was 2.7 billion. It's now 7.2 billion and rising. Before long the global population will have grown by 5 billion within my lifetime, and shortly after that it will have tripled since I was born.

But what astounds me most of all is the attitude of these people. This constant conviction that they are right and if they don't get want they want, they'll scream and scream and scream until they are sick.
Something is coming, in case you weren't aware. It's been far too long for us. We have been lucky so far but it's coming. Chernobyl came close but it doesn't mean we will get away with it again. I have no idea what it is but whenever it is and whatever it is, we will actually have to work together as a species just to live. And all this bks that is currently flooding through our culture will be as important as pissing a pubic hair off a toilet seat.

spend the trillions on things like nuclear power stations and useful infrastructure ,maybe the results would be better than lining the pockets of warmongering dictators ?
Erm...you want to give nuclear power stations to warmongering dictators eh? I have some sympathy with the ends, but not the means. And their demands are unachievable without a Khmer Rouge style revolution. Here's how we get to zero net carbon in 6 years;
Shut down half of our electricity generating capacity.
Turn off mains gas.
Stop the supply of petrol and diesel.
Kill all the dairy and meat herds, all the pigs, all the chickens
Stop all imports of goods, including food
Shut down all public transport bar that which could be run on what's left of the electricity generation network
Shut down all industry bar that which could be run on what's left of the electricity generation network
Close the airports
Close the sea ports
Stop all production and import of artificial fertilisers
We would be looking at an organic agrarian society, which could not be sustained at our current levels of population. We'd have millions of deaths from famine and hypothermia.

Don’t you think these experts, with no relevant expertise at all would be publishing papers and changing the scientific consensus and the course of science?
These car enthusiasts have uncovered the biggest scam in history of science but aren’t publishing their findings, just getting shown up on a car forum instead.
Doesn’t seem likely that these PHers are right as you say, does it?
Just out of interest who exactly do you think are these knowledgeable sceptic posters are?
