Climate protesters block roads

Climate change? Give it a rest.
We've been around for a few thousand years. We can't predict the weather accurately beyond a few hours, let alone the complexities of how our world works.
Each and every one of the muppets protesting is a massive hypocrite. Did they craft the clothes they are wearing from natural objects near where they live? Did they walk to London? Are the phones they use crafted from natural, eco sources? It's all bks and they are the worst people to preach to anyone.
Don't even get me started on that tosspot actress who has become their mouth piece. Sorry luvvies, was across the pond celebrating my birthday and took a flight back to protest about climate change. What an utter cretin. She has harmed the planet more than I have as I haven't flown for years and years.
Do these people not see how stupid they sound?

Excellent rant sir, & not a bad post if I may!

I have some sympathy with the ends, but not the means. And their demands are unachievable without a Khmer Rouge style revolution. Here's how we get to zero net carbon in 6 years;
Shut down half of our electricity generating capacity.
Turn off mains gas.
Stop the supply of petrol and diesel.
Kill all the dairy and meat herds, all the pigs, all the chickens
Stop all imports of goods, including food
Shut down all public transport bar that which could be run on what's left of the electricity generation network
Shut down all industry bar that which could be run on what's left of the electricity generation network
Close the airports
Close the sea ports
Stop all production and import of artificial fertilisers
We would be looking at an organic agrarian society, which could not be sustained at our current levels of population. We'd have millions of deaths from famine and hypothermia.
That's what they want: for everyone but them. Shut down half of our electricity generating capacity.

Btw there is a climate change science thread where some of this can be discussed, feel free to go over there and post proper peer reviewed scientific data that incontrovertibly proves the human fingerprint on climate change and carbon emissions. Good luck with that.
The incessant appeal to authority and "consensus" is a stuck record. Historically, in this parish, at least posters like Ludo and kerplunk had some science to support their CAGW claims. Others (remember FaceFirst who went crying back to the badscience forum for answers to replies that included peer-reviewed papers) just parrot the line, 'What would you know, being a member of a motoring forum?'.
Maybe they would like to explore the Medieval Warm Period and how it annoys climate "scientists". Or the short-centered statistical analysis that skewed the data to produce Mann's 1998 "hockey stick" graph (which deleted the MWP). Or Vostok ice cores from the Antarctic that show massively higher CO2 levels than are extant today. Maybe they would like to study how a dataset from Yamal was updated but not included in calcs to reproduce historical global temps (The Yamal Deception).
I doubt it.
All that will be posted is true believer stuff from skeptical science; if that.
Got off the tube at Oxford Circus on my way home tonight to see what all the fuss was about. It's all friendly enough, just a load of youngsters in the main who think that:
a} We'll be in a land of plenty when Corbyn becomes PM as he has promised an end to everything plus the moon on a stick.
b) We should stop all emissions immediately - no-one has any idea how this might work though!!

I think some of the problem is that some seem to be confusing a dislike and derision of these pink-haired, septum-pierced, superglue enthusiasts with a denial of wanting to lessen human's impact on the planet.
You can cut your own reliance on natural resources and pollution of your environment (small "e") without agreeing with the actions of this small bunch of hysterical alarmist lunatics.
In fact many people (most?) do so within the course of their everyday lives with no fanfare or audience.
Edit: spoolings

Likewise the double-barrelled nutwad who is coordinating this fun skiing overseas. Or the protesters leaving rubbish all over the shop while waving banners produced in China.
It appears that example is irrelevant; just feel the quality of the message and ignore the rampaging hypocrisy.
Jolly good. And they wonder why they are regarded as self regarding, virtue signalling children with no actual belief.
Because the plane was already flying. Jesus wept.
Their fking policy is to ensure that planes won’t fly.
How will that fking work out?

Quite a few looked like they were settling in for the night in their tents.

Are they naive?
Or
Is that what they want?
There's a lot of criticising of people who claim these protesters are being hypocritical.
Can someone explain why you can't say they're being hypocritical? eg Emma Thompson flying over to protest then flying back to the US is acceptable? But if I post about how everyone should be vegan shortly before tucking into a rare steak, that's bad?

It’s official; PH is 90% thicko’s.
People on here arguing against scientific fact; upset at the ‘crusties’ demonstrating and many want to mute other posters who disagree with them. How about grow a pair and keep it moving. Some of you chaps could really do with sorting some sort of life out for yourselves. Genuinely. It’s wall to wall manchild.
I’ll just leave this here for a laugh (perhaps it’s already been posted):

It really doesn't matter what PH Gammon think, the 'flat earth' equivalents who deny CC will be dragged along in the wake of the legislature enacted to deal with the issues that need to be dealt with. We see it already with ICE vs Electric. People on here arguing against scientific fact; upset at the ‘crusties’ demonstrating and many want to mute other posters who disagree with them. Sure, they wail, bh and moan and display their intense ignorance on forums such as this but they are irrelevant now, the groundswell towards making changes is well underway and groups like XR keep the pressure on and message on song so that Governments keep ramping up the measures required.
There is ignorance within XR too, much is unrealistic or misunderstood in terms of timescale and solutions but their overall message is the right one generally. They just need managing, to not be allowed to go too far by way of disruption in expressing themselves.
