Maybe they should focus on not facilitating genocide first?

Makes sense. Some of the groups do vomit a lot of hatred onto their pages. I guess the trouble is defining what’s considered ‘far right’ considering the term is thrown around so loosely.

I think the list is fair enough tbh.
I doubt they will make the mistake of listing anything and everything right of centre

Have there been any incidents where someone subscribing to far-left ideology has embarked on mass-murder?

I'm genuinely ignorant on whether they have as all of the incidents I'm aware of have been attributed to the far-right.

It would be more helpful to have said they have banned any organisation which encourages hateful, racist, sexist or bigoted behaviour. Using the term far right is s catch all clickbait paper selling term.

Facebook said:
“Individuals and organisations who spread hate, or attack or call for the exclusion of others on the basis of who they are, have no place on Facebook. Under our dangerous individuals and organisations policy, we ban those who proclaim a violent or hateful mission or are engaged in acts of hate or violence.

“The individuals and organisations we have banned today violate this policy, and they will no longer be allowed a presence on Facebook or Instagram. Posts and other content which expresses praise or support for these figures and groups will also be banned. Our work against organised hate is ongoing and we will continue to review individuals, organisations, pages, groups and content against our community standards.”
To be fair it does appear Facebook are going down the "hatred" route whilst it probably depends on the media outlet as to how they report it.

I don't see any difference between what they did and what Hitler did. I'd argue that they were all the same.

Only a couple of nights ago I found myself browsing a long standing 'anarchists' Facebook page (oh the irony...), just one user who seemed to be a genuinely unpleasant person with the language, anger at government, corporations & the police and threatening to drag them all down.

My favourite bit was there was an elderly women on his friend list (his grandma?) who was passionate about her cats & gardening. Oh to be a fly on the wall during one of their communications.

Why does communism get a pass? You would never see an MP saying that Hitler did more good than bad, but it has been said about Mao despite causing 5 times more deaths. Bonkers.

biggrin Exactly. But if there are equivalent far-left groups I'd certainly hope they would be banned too. It does seem to be hard to find the same sort of violence from extreme left that we see nowadays from the various extreme right killers.

It's a perfectly reasonable move if it is enacted both ways, however with the spate of 'no-platforming' of people like Jordan Peterson it's a concern that things could go too far. But they won't because social media platforms profit from controversial content.
