Hi everyone,

My car's Idrive CCC system was faulty so it was replaced by the car dealer i bought the car from (not a BMW dealer i must add) with a second hand unit. This worked in terms of bluetooth, radio, parking sensors but not sat nav (Function not currently available is the message on the screen). I took the car to a local BMW dealer but they are telling me that they cannot get the sat nav function working as the idrive unit isn't brand new and relates to another chassis number. They can only programme brand new Idrive CCC units.

I understand that these units need to have some sort of security feature to stop them being stolen and sold on but I don't understand how there is a second hand market for idrive CCC units if even the main dealer cannot programme them to the car.

Does anyone have a solution for this as currently i have a car with no sat nav. There must be a way of getting the sat nav working without having to buy a brand new Idrive from BMW.

Car is a 62 plate so out of manufacturer's warranty.

Thanks

Being a 62 plate this is probably CIC, not CCC. The unit needs activation as it's previously been coded to the car it came with. Plenty of information on this these days. Depending on how handy you are with laptops & the like, it's an easy DIY. I would e-mail you, but you've blocked that function. So go to cartechnology dot co dot uk , then go to the link for Automotive Help & Discussions, followed by BMW, then look for the thread with 'GENERATE YOUR OWN RETROFIT FSC CERTS'.
If anyone mentions emulators or similar, this used to be the way of doing these things, but nowadays it's much easier & can be done with a bit of simple reprogramming.
I hope this helps.

Thanks will take a look. I’ve only just set up my PH account so haven’t intentionally blocked anything, so will have a fiddle with that too. Cheers
