Didn’t know it was illegal to drink alcohol on public transport. Since when?

As for Mrs Abbott. Good luck to her frankly.

Just on TFL stuff. Been around for a while since Boris.

Personally, as much as I feel that she may have exhibited past behaviours of a racist, hypocrite and is incompetent in her role etc, I find this type of reporting in MSM inflammatory across a number of possible spectrums and quite unsavoury.

Exactly what harm was she doing to anyone else? Divisive reporting and potentially quite intrusive and typical MSM trivia.

Attack her politics. Attack her capabilities. Yes she was breaking the law. But let the lady get on with her life and let the law enforce any transgressions she makes. This is another example of unnecessary trial by media IMHO.

We should let her go round and round on the circle line drinking 24x7. She will do a lot less damage than doing her normal job.

Agreed. I am not keen on her politics at all (though she is right on some things), but a lot of the attacks on her in the media border on racism and / or bullying, and I condemn them completely.

It's quite a simple law and one she will have been aware of for some time now as it has been in force since 2008. It applies to all who travel on TFL services. There's a very easy way for her not to draw criticism or attention for blatantly flouting this law on TFL services.

You don't see that perhaps there is a bit more of an issue with the shadow home secretary breaking the law?

Tbh I wasn't aware of this law and I'd have been inclined to say meh at that point (albeit, IMO, drinking on public transport is a chavvy thing to do). HOWEVER upon finding out that it is the law you'd hope that the shadow home sec would be aware of this and not give her critics more amo

So anyone caught drinking on TFL transport from now on cannot be prosecuted?

exactly and if the general public get prosecuted for petty laws like doing a few to many mph then the people that make and then break such laws should be prosecuted to the full as an example and to see how they like it

That’s right, just got to apologise.

It’s totally unacceptable. I rarely go to the cesspit that is our capital but even I know of this regulation.

Someone in her position, living there and actually being paid to help determine and implement our laws should be aware. But, of course she’s hardly aware of anything, is she?

Retired DCI:

“She should be the most upright citizen in London, not doing stupid things like this.”

This is Abbot we’re talking about; not going to happen.

This. Absolutely this.

There’s clear evidence, she’s admitted it so she should be prosecuted.

The problems is she is part of the ruling class who invent these laws and prosecute us for breaking them. This just helps illuminate the disparity between 'them' and 'us'.
There is no actual harm but only this week there was a large article about a MLM in another paper so unless you feel she deserves special treatment......

Where would you draw the line. Which broken laws do you feel should be noted/prosecuted and which do you feel should be ignored.
Dropping litter
Selling alcohol to underage kids
Speeding
Smacking children
Assualt

This isn't an attack.

If a politician very publicly breaks the law it will be reported.
