My children put on their best British aristocrat voices and refer to it as 'The Aston'.

Depends on whose company one is in, one quite often refers to 'the Aston' as 'one's Aston'. All my cars have names though, namely Moneypenny, Beastie, Dave, and the Flying Brick. Usually it's just 'The Aston'. Typically 'I'm just popping to Waitrose in the Aston Dwahling' (Invariably via the pub on the way back biggrin )

This ^ although during my loooong time on this planet I have only named two other cars; a mini 850 called Winston (long story) and a fantastically tasteless but rather handy porpoise-nosed Multipla termed the Purple Pope Mobile.

I generally name my cars based on their number plates. So my DB9 is “Vickie” since it’s V12LRS, and my Cygnet is “Kimi” since it is KM12ZSZ. But you don’t want to know about my old Sunbeam Lotus (MUF380W)!

Cygnet - the baby Aston
Db9 - black convertible
Vanquish - the red one

All very boring

Funny as my Volvo is called Big Vern, and my van is called Vannie (as in Le Roux)

The Company founders always gave nicknames to their cars.
One or two had to be renamed later !!!

We can now envisage the time when communicating has to be banned entirely, if we reach the point where every word in the dictionary (supposedly) offends someone.

Aston is called our posh jag
911 is called our posh beetle
4x4 is called our Jeep (have had several makes none of which has been a jeep)
Our little shopping car is called the rinky dink

Just sounds and feels a bit pretentious to me when you refer to as Aston or Porsche when in company of others.

The clue was the nickname given to the third Bamford and Martin, Aston Martin prototype.
Not allowed to use that word now.

99% of the time 'The Aston' very, very occasionally 'The Vantage'.

Never refer to it in the company of others unless I absolutely have to. Too my son to the Dentist in it. Because of covid you have to wait in the car park, call them and they come out to you to let you in. They ask 'what car are you in?' and I said, rather awkwardly. 'a grey Aston Martin'. My son as ked me why I sounded embarrassed saying it. I guess it's my upbringing but I always feel like I'm showing off if I have to tell someone I don't know that I have an Aston Martin. Even though it's an old, cheap one......

I have never (and will never) give my cars names. They are inanimate lumps of metal when all said and done.

My dentist last week suggested I would benefit from having circa £3k worth of dental work over the next year, and a further £6-9k over the following two years. God knows how much she'd have quoted had I turned up for the appointment in the Aston rather than the Mini.
