Firstly it isn’t a tolerance issue. Pointing out deep seated misogyny doesn’t make someone intolerant, it makes them observant. That it might upset those with who are patent misogynists is not their problem.
Lastly, Shami’s point on “what about a women” was a cheap pointless shot but his reaction - oh my days the mask was on the floor. He should have calmly said he thought Kier was still the best candidate for all the right reasons, but oh no he was uber triggered. I wonder if she knew......
His reaction was the same as most of the audience and those watching at home too, ie, a totally appropriate response to the pathetic woke and totally unnecessary point she felt she had to make.Lastly, Shami’s point on “what about a women” was a cheap pointless shot but his reaction - oh my days the mask was on the floor. He should have calmly said he thought Kier was still the best candidate for all the right reasons, but oh no he was uber triggered. I wonder if she knew......

Those on the left preach tolerance and equality, but are only tolerant of those with views they agree with and certainly don't give equality of anything to those they disagree with
It's hypocrisy of the highest order and as with Brexit, it would appear that those with the greatest media presence (journalists, actors, singers, etc) are out of step with the majority of the public.
Fox simply expressed the views of the silent majority which is to say get out of your backside and get into the real world
The question on a female leader for the labour party was for me the most telling - shami chakrabarti was made to look like a complete tit

As for the tolerance point, those on the left attempt to demonise anyone who doesn't share their views on anything, from palestine to taxes. They use words like public school or tory as a form of insult, to the point that all such people are considered evil racists. It's polarisation at an extreme and is counter productive because it's a strategy that is less likely to lead to compromise or resolution of any form. They talk about a 'nicer kind of politics' whilst actually practising the exact opposite. The behaviour of some of the corbyn acolytes was truly vile. All the while taking a holier than thou attitude towards anyone that doesn't share their views.

Well we may have been watching the same programme, but we obviously interpreted it very differently. His mask was not on the floor. He was asked who in his opinion should be the next leader, he paused appearing to think about the answer, then gave a name. He was asked why and he did indeed calmly answer why. Shami then said 'you don't think any of the four women.....'. It was pathetic and showed identity politics at it's worse

I heard about what happened before I watched it and I assumed Shami had said something daft - which she did. His reaction was worse however.
Both sides are in the wrong here however and you’re right that some momentum people have behaved terribly too.
Would you agree or do you find yourself feeling an affinity with the Fox anger?

Labour seem understandably hung up on the fact that despite the tory party having recently had some stereotypically upper class rich white make leaders such as Cameron & Johnson, they have had more diversity in the very top jobs (PM, chancellor, home secretary, etc), particularly when it comes to women but arguably also with ethnic minorities, than labour have. On the face of it, that's been achieved by the tories with no positive discriminationSo the labour dilemma is whether to artificially intervene or allow the best person for the job. That's not laurence fox's problem and for him to be attacked & essentially accused of not thinking the four women candidates were up to the job for what on the face of it was a straight answer, shortly after the white male privilege accusations, made me despair more than it made me angry

The issue for me is that I expect some on the right to be nasty. But when those on the left accuse anyone who doesn't share the same views as them of being evil racists, being far nastier than those they accuse of being nasty, it seems like extreme double standards. They don't seem capable of accepting that there are good & bad politicians on all sides of the political divide. They seem to have no room for compromise on anything whatsoever - just look at the reaction after losing the election, which is basically to blame the voters rather than themselvesTuna said:
Really? As far as I can see, all the examples we're dealing with are people asking for Fox's opinion and then being offended by it. From Shami, to the Times interview.
Fox called them “ultra woke hypocrites” back in Nov. What had they done to him to provoke such unprompted anger?

Sorry, I am not fully up to speed with the antics of the lugubrious Sgt Hathaway's alter ego: who did he call ultra woke hypocrites in November and in what interview? What had they done to him to provoke such unprompted anger?

Harry and Meghan. Him venting his anger at them is not a new thing.
You should hear what he has said about his ex mother in law.
He is an angry ranty chap. And that’s just being observant of the facts.

Everyone is so willing to project a version of anything that supports their stance I guess
