One big issue is - ROI don’t have a Public Health Service / it is paid Gp visits paid operations etc. how will that be solved? What about seriously Sick people now say terminal or life long issues but are broke who would pay for that?

N Ireland is a net beneficiary of the Barnett formulae - who’s going to pick up the tab for that? Will be a big ask for the low population of ROI.

ROI is not a member of NATO…. Lose that defence.

Currency you’d have to change to the € - but your debts would be in sterling. That could be good or bad for you depending on how exchange rates change.
They'll follow surgeon's lead. Broadly:

Uk should fund health costs after NI joining ROI
Uk should provide a financial settlement that favours NI
Uk should take all the debt, problem solved.
Why stop there; ask for a unicorn for every child while we're at it? wobble
Well that would be the state pension funding wouldn’t it….. gulp.

Also the fact ROI is not state funded healthcare it’s private setup…. NIreland population would suddenly have a very difficult thing to get over.

Lastly they receive Barnett formulae …. That ends on reunification. So is ROI tax payers going to fund all of these billions to pay for the benefits N Ireland get or stop it….

Fionas panel includes:

Thangam Debbonaire Labours Shadow Leader of the House of Commons
Alison Thewliss SNP Treasury Spokesperson and as with all SNP MP’s one of the most reasonable and open minded politicians in recent history
Ella Whelan Journalist and author.
Richard Walker Iceland Food Boss
And………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………The dreaded mystery Tory Guess who will it be. Which poor sod will get to play at being a dartboard
Information from my sources tell me it’s looking likely that the winner will be…………………………………
Robert Jenrick MP, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government

The questions may include:

Now it’s time to move on from endless talk about resignations but how long will Boris Johnson remain leader
I know that talk of a leadership contest isn’t relevant but just who will take over from Boris when he goes
Can all Scotlands problems be solved by going Independent
As the leader of the ethics thingeymebob has resigned can we not have a Labour MP doing it instead
As fuel nudges £100 a tank why aren’t the government giving every family a free bicycle
As a life long Tory Voter can we not get permission to shoot railworkers in the knees rather than give them any pay rise
If Rwanda’s not so bad how come the Tory B*st*ards don’t hold their Conference there this year
What watch are you wearing this week Fiona if you don’t mind my asking
Why isn’t there a SNP member on each week – unlike Labour they have real policies even if it’s only the one to get another referendum
Why isn’t there a Lib Dem representative it’s a scandal this up and coming party don’t get more coverage

Ok, the bit in bold, you're either. 1. Sarcastic. 2. A SNP bot. 3. Higher than snoop dog. 4. English, with absolutely no clue what the SNP are really like other than the free pass they are given by the UK media, the useful idiots who are anyone but the tooaaries since labour are a non entity. 5. Thick. So which is it?

I don't think that went the way Fiona and the Tory bashers expected.

If that audience was a true reflection of the North East then Kier ain’t getting any MPs back in that part of the country. Not only did the ‘attacks’ on the lack of action/policies from Labour surprise me somewhat but the number and the applause that rang out for them was quite an eye opener. The more so because ‘Tory Boy’ who screeched his way through his eulogies of Boris was left pretty much untouched. The final shock was the guy who then finished it off describing the levelling up activities that were ongoing!

I reckon the Tories managed to do a better job with their activists this week wink

I had considered that but for both the Conservatives and the BBC to find so many Tory activists in that neck of the woods seemed an improbable feat. Particularly as the obvious Tory in the audience stated that he had only joined the Conservative Party to oust Boris . . . apparently all on his own!

On another forum someone from elsewhere was shocked by the audience not being pro Labour. Obviously believes Labour owns northern voters by right.

Was that not Labours problem for the last 29 years? Thought the working class vore was in the bag anc concentrated on the green Islington woke crowd.

Thangam said (in response to a question) "Would you like me to tell you in detail the labour manifesto?" - to which the audience member said "yes please" and FB say "god no, definitely don't do that".

Is it the 2019 manifesto minus anything Kier has cut from it / added to it? Does it even exist (as such), or is it just a collection of soundbites like "Labour will address the cost of living crisis" (without stating how).

Is renationalisation still in there? Very relevant to current rail situation, and energy crisis

Appreciate they don't need to release one until a GE is called, but it would be good to know what they stand for. Thangam seems to know...

BBC 1 Thursday 23rd June 10.40pm
On the panel:
Rachel Maclean Conservative Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Safeguarding
Nick Thomas-Symonds Labour Shadow Secretary of State for International Trade
Mick Lynch RMT General Secretary and the genuine antichrist
Anne Boden MBE. CEO of Starling Bank,
Ben Habib. Brexit Party Member of the European Parliament

Topics may include why are the unions organising strikes to tyry and bring down the government
Why hasn't Mick Lynch been able tyo have his own 10 minute broadcast before each of the strikes to explainm why they haver to strike. Surely the BBC could find time for such a slott
Why have you allowed a reactionery rabble rousing person on the panel to turn members of the public against each other. Who was it who let Ben Habib on
When will Boris resign
When he does we should have a General election. It's not fair the Tories are allowed to keep swapping leaders like this.
Why haven't tory MP's joined picket lines
Why can't we have a government of national unity and have Mick Lynch as PM as he is such a good guy and has the whole country behind him

Lynch priceless on Newsnight a couple of nights ago - and highly effective. Chris Philp (Tory, Culture) was the victim. I lost count of how many times he called him a liar.

The Tory (never heard of her, should I have?) looks to be no match for Mick Lynch. Could be interesting, especially if the audience are with him. Shame they couldn't get Gove on to decry people who stand on picket lines (CBA to find the pic of Gove currently circulating - doing exactly that)

How much of the country is behind Mick Lynch? My echo chamber says not many.

People on £60k striking to prevent people on £20k from going to work.
