Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Lockard told the judge that when Mike Pence and Mike Pompeo visited Turkey last week, Erdogan tried to convince them to drop the case against Halkbank. This obviously didn’t work, as the case is still proceeding in court.

So Erdogan initially refused to see Pence to discuss any peace plans, then when he did, wanted to discuss dropping the bank charges.
Giliani is of course involved as he represented Reza Zarrab

The U.S. Appeals Court has already upheld a lower court ruling that accounting firm Mazars must turn over eight years of Donald Trump’s federal tax returns to the New York grand jury that’s targeting Trump for criminal indictment on state charges. Today the Appeals Court will be hearing trumps attempt to block it again.

trump tried to fight this case by arguing in court that a sitting president can’t be investigated because he can’t be indicted, but that lower court ruling to turn over trumps tax returns also ruled that there was no legal basis for the DOJ memo about a sitting president being indicted.

Now trump if he loses today could take it to the Supreme court, they have been ruling in trumps favor lately, but if the court ordered it today, would the supreme court take it on as this battle will then have been lost in every court. Mazars have aready indicated that they are ready to turn over the documents immediately.

The DOJ under Barr are still trying to argue that this has no preceident over other cases wanting trumps tax returns

Justice Department officials told a federal judge Tuesday that a recent appeals court ruling upholding Congress’s power to seek eight years of Trump’s business records from his accounting firm should have no bearing on their request to throw out a separate House lawsuit seeking Trump’s tax returns from the IRS.

A fair point however I don't see how that aim is going to be achieved by by forcing a state of constant warfare on the local population until America is so hated that they are forced to leave.

Look at Iraq, was all that blood and treasure spent by America so that Iran could greatly increase their influence there while Americans count down the days until the Iraqi government boot them out for being foreign invaders? Do we think Afghanistan is going any better?

This is what the results of the forever war strategy have so far brought.
Don't worry yourself Jared Kushner is going to sort it all out.

Old news. America is almost an oil exporter thanks to shale oil.
Don't disagree with most of the rest of your post, but you don't import 9M barrels per day, if you're self-sufficient.
That's not net - net is 2.3 MMb/d, the equivalent of 11% of total U.S. petroleum consumption and the lowest percentage since 1957. Petroleum is a lot of different stuff, so you'll want different types of oil/products, hence importing so much but also exporting a buncg too. And as mentioned the supply is infrastructure limited, so once those pipelines get approval/built there'll be even higher volumes produced in the US most likely.

They used to import crude and export refined, but as you said that is reducing. Another reason trump wants to relax restrictions on mining in national parks etc.

In the third quarter of 2018, the U.S. imported roughly 10.2 million barrels of petroleum per day,3 with the largest amounts coming from Canada (41%) and Saudi Arabia (10%).

In the third quarter of 2018, the U.S. exported roughly 7.5 million barrels of petroleum per day.3 The largest markets for U.S. petroleum exports are Mexico and Canada, but the U.S. exports petroleum to 180 countries.

trump has refused to seperate himself from his businesses, infact usign his position to promote his business.

Now in a letter sent to President Donald Trump's company on Tuesday, four senators — Tom Udall of New Mexico, Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts — said they need information regarding the company's licensing agreement for Trump Towers-Istanbul to understand whether the president's foreign policy decisions "are being influenced by potential conflicts of interest."

Trump's moves to withdraw U.S. troops out of northern Syria at Turkey's request and to delay action in a money laundering case involving a Turkish bank are among the decisions the four Democratic lawmakers cite.

Who cares?
The emoluments clause is "phony" anyway.

Republicans have entered the impeachment hearings (they are not premitted to be there) and taken mobile devices with them (which are not permitted in the room).

This has prevented the testimony of a witness.

https://www.joemygod.com/2019/10/two-dozen-gop-law...

This seems fine, and exactly how innocent people behave.

They should be removed, held overnight and charged.

But, as with ignoring subpoenas, nothing will happen.

It's pathetic.

Rep. Mark Walker
@RepMarkWalker

UPDATE: We are in the SCIF and every GOP Member is quietly listening.

Meanwhile, Adam Schiff, clearly peeved that he will no longer be able to hide his impeachment sham, is threatening Ethics punishment for all of us.

His fake intimidation can’t hide his lies–Open the process!

It's not a "secret chamber," it's the House of Representatives' SCIF.

Access is open to members of committees of jurisdiction, not mobs.

The phone you sent this on is banned there because it violates security protocols that protect classified information to keep Americans safe.

Thinking about the impeachment, I've not heard any of the GOP claim that it's a waste of taxpayers money etc which would be a usual argument against a biased impeachment/unwarranted political procedure.

All the complaints have been specifically aimed at Schiff etc, taking the man not the ball obviously.

I think Schiff may well come out of all of this looking like something of an American hero, but he will be hated by millions of nutters and probably not safe for the rest of his life.

He's even managed to fail to get his 'point' across clearly. Is he saying there are few respirators left?

It's compelling to watch such an obvious breakdown on a day-to-day basis but properly alarming that this severely ill person has the nuclear codes.
