I saw this story and so wanted it to be what it looks like - but turns out it's a bit of wall that was under construction and the concrete wasn't dry. It was punningly observed in the sixteenth century that diplomats are "men sent to lie abroad".
I have been watching much of the trial on CNN. Fascinating, but frustrating, as the GOP Senators are not listening, and the outcome is a forgone conclusion.. Adam Schiff and Hakeem Jeffries are super-impressive. They have made an overwhelming case that, were it not for craven partisanship, would have Trump out on his ear and heading for indictments and jail.
Chief Justice Roberts just sits there. He doesn't have a lot to do in this process.

He's their bad guy, and that's all that matters.
With a few notable exceptions (Jeff Flake springs to mind, though I haven't delved deep into whether his "epiphany" was driven by the fact that he was going to quit/lose anyway) I don't know how any of them can sleep at night.
They know he's done all of the things he's being accused of, and more besides, but it's more important to them that he remains where he is because he's a Republican. It boggles the mind that the system is so nakedly compromised.

How can Bolton's comments on the Ukraine thing be both lies and classified top secret? Isn't that a contradiction?
I think the best way for Bolton to deal with this is delay, not cancel, the book then testify and turn over all evidence to the fbi. With a book to sell its all a bit of a circus. The problem is whether any questions he could be asked could be answered in open court.

Seems nice and impartial. I mean it's not like Republicans to whitewash Trump's misdeeds is it.Carl_Manchester said:

The U.S. Treasury Department lifted sanctions on three firms tied to Russian tycoon Oleg Deripaska, including United Co. Rusal, a move that will provide relief to the global aluminum market. The metal fell in London.
Deripaska, an ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, will remain under U.S. sanctions, and his property will remain blocked. But the Treasury Department is removing restrictions on Rusal, En+ Group Plc and EuroSibEnergo JSC.

Alan Dershowitz has repeatedly cited Harvard professor Nikolas Bowie's scholarship to support his argument that abuse of power is not a crime.
Well, Bowie has appear on CNN calling Dershowitz's interpretation "a joke

Since the discussion from te GOP is about candidates sons profiteering, how about Kushner and China, with Kushner using the trip to seek investors for his company.
We already know about Ivanka and the patents given her.
In late 2017, CNBC filed a Freedom of Information Act request for details about Jared Kushner's secretive meeting in China during President Trump's visit to the country.
The State Department has yet to fulfill the request.
The department told CNBC it aims to complete it by July 2021, about 3½ years after the request.
“What wasn't on the White House or State Department agendas: a meeting with private equity investors convened by Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law and senior advisor, and U.S. Ambassador Terry Branstad.”
