It is actually beyond belief that some people are upset or annoyed by any of this.

Two members of the Royal family decide to leave and go their own way. They have handed back and given up more than any other Royal has ever done before in modern times, and yet we are still hearing wailing and gnashing of teeth.

For the most part, I support the fact we have a Royal family. I think on balance, they are an asset to the country.

However, I would be the first to agree that they need thinning out, and we shouldn’t really be asked to support the Royal family tree to such a large extent.

With that in mind, H&M leaving should be celebrated.

They have single handedly reduced the cost to you personally.

I mean really, why does this bother anyone? Even if H&M hadn’t left, the entire family costs you £1.24 per year.

Not sure the ‘Sussex Royal’ idea and its hundreds of trademarks was derived from a wish to be private and avoid publicity.

More about exploiting and continuing the global fame that a free £20m wedding gets you, really.
If they put that behind them, adopt a low profile lifestyle, and don’t take the piss then no problem.

Yeah, fine. That clearly wasn't the plan though.

An Americanised, Disneyfied plastic 'Royal' brand, for which H&M do the exciting red carpet galas but not the tiresome opening of provincial swimming pools was the plan.

Living high on the easy wins of a Martha Stewart style company flogging cheesy inauthentic bullst home-ballast. And plenty of time left to fly around telling people to stop flying.

The Windsors is back for a new series on Channel 4 on Tuesday at 22:00. Should be good for a laugh.

Lord Marylebone - you are an actual member of the aristocracy, and I claim my £5.

The symbol is JMB which stands for Johnson’s Merle Biscuits.

Harry and Meghan used this symbol as they were paid by the Johnson-Merle family to promote the biscuits however they haven’t been seen once eating any of the produce in any photos therefore I can see that motif being changed rather soon.

The more it goes on (with them; and prince andrew; and the nephew? who's divorcing the canadian bird; the hangers-on selling milk in china (wtf)) the more I actually think what a load of old wk the whole "Royal" thing is. Bunch of dheads. How come harry suddenly can't use the word Royal? he was royal yesterday but not today?

What is royalty? Not that I want to know, or care. I do now think they should be written out of history, all the assets turned over to be held in trust by the government or something.

Unfortunately, you will have to manage without that £5 today.

I am absolutely not a member of the aristocracy, ruling classes, or royal family.

To be honest, I’m pleased that is the case.

If it helps define my character, I was once compared to a cross between ‘Tim nice but dim’ from the Fast Show, and YouTuber Tim ‘Shmee150’ Burton.

Thanks for that. I had to look the second one up.

My profile picture sums me up nicely. smile

Edit: Having thought about it, it's probably overly flattering. biggrin

Why does this bother anyone? Well, I agree that the government would find some other way to piss away £1.24 per year. But what about principle?

Is it so controversial in the twenty-first century and in a mature democracy that the point really needs to be made about anybody being to told to go down on bended knee to anybody, less still a prize dick like Charles?

For starters, that just isn’t true:

“ There are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family”

From the Royal families own website.

You are under no obligation, legal or implied, to behave differently towards the Queen or anyone under her.

HRM or her delegated, you bend, kneel etc to the office/country NOT the person.

Maybe if you had a smattering of knowledge you would know that, blame your teachers not the Royal person
