I can't really understand why we care ?

Let them rant and rave and bks to the pair of them.
I can't understand either, why are they even news?

For example, here's a not news news story about how nothing they say matters and they aren't news:

It's a small thing, just an 11 page spread about how none of us cares about them. Haha look how we don't care, WE WILL TELL YOU FOR 11 PAGES OF A NATIONAL NEWSPAPER TO PROVE WE DON'T CARE!!!

Anyway, sorry, I got confused, who is ranting and raving? It's "them" right?

Harry demonstrating his confusion about leaving his paid role and what that might mean to his pay packet:

Harry said:
“My family literally cut me off financially,”
“But I’ve got what my mum left me and without that we would not have been able to do this.”

Their son was never going to be titled a prince. It's nothing to do with the colour of his skin but changes to how the hereditary titles were awarded made back in 1917.

But, y'know, Race Card FTW

Trailer Trash.
Well if Wikipedia can be trusted, it looks you are right

Wikedpedia said:
Later that year, letters patent altered the rights to the title prince and the style Royal Highness. These letters patent, dated 30 November 1917, stated that "the children of any Sovereign of these Realms and the children of the sons of any such Sovereign (as per the above Letters Patent of 1864) and the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales (a modification of the Letters Patent of 1898) shall have and at all times hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of Royal Highness with their titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their respective Christian names or with their other titles of honour". It was also decreed in these letters that "grandchildren of the sons of any such Sovereign in the direct male line ... shall have and enjoy in all occasions the style and title enjoyed by the children of Dukes of these Our Realms" (i.e., Lord or Lady before their Christian name).[5][6] In addition the letters stated save as aforesaid the style title or attribute of Royal Highness, Highness or Serene Highness and the titular dignity of Prince or Princess shall not henceforth be assumed or borne by any descendant of any Sovereign of these Realms.
So we can see how she plans to make her hundreds of millions.

Just read the live commentary on the BBC as the interview is being shown in the US:

"In response to Oprah asking her whether she was "silent" or "silenced", Meghan says it was the latter."

"Meghan is asked by Oprah about baby Archie - who was not made a prince at his birth... She says she found the news "really hard" - not because she wanted the title but because it meant he wouldn't receive security... She says the convention, meaning her children would be prince or princess, was changed while she was pregnant."

Oprah asks Meghan about why she thinks the Royal Family didn't want to make Archie a prince.

"Why do you think that is? Do you think it's because of his race? I know that's a loaded question." says Oprah.
"I can give you an honest answer," says Meghan.
"In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time so we have in tandem the conversation of he won't be given security, he's not going to be given a title, and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born."
Oprah asks her who said that.
Meghan doesn't answer, and Oprah asks again.
"There are several conversations about it," says Meghan. The conversation was with Harry, she says, and about how dark the baby's going to be "potentially and what that would mean or look like".
She refuses to say who it is, saying: "I think that would be very damaging to them."

Wow, that's going to put the cat amongst the pigeons!!
Probably the Duke of Edinburgh in one of his whimsical quips - just like the 'slitty eyes' comments many years ago.

No way Harry would let her claim this happened to him if it wasn’t true IMO.

And if it’s true then fking hell.

https://v.redd.it/ycmlylclrpl61

Edit -

It’s true. He went on to say;

Later in the interview Harry said "that conversation, I am never going to share". "At the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked". Harry also went on to say he was hurt that no-one from his family ever condemned racist media coverage of them.

That single conversation completely vindicates everything they did thereafter to be honest to get the fk away

Remarkable. It will be interesting to see what the reaction is - of the media and the Palace, and the country for that matter. I have a feeling many will let themselves down.

This thread could excel itself.

It’ll blow over because the British public couldn’t care less about the pair of them.

She’s a horrible little specimen.

What is of more concern is the impact on the country's international standing. It looks like at least one of her claims was a lie (title for Archie) but tens of millions around the world are going to take it as truth.

She found the news that Archie wouldn't be a prince 'really hard' but they've said previously they didnt want him to have a title.

She claimed the convention was changed while she was pregnant. It wasn't.

Lots of lies and half truths.

Yes, but she's apparently still miffed about him calling a fellow Sandhurst cadet "a little p**i"

I’ll leave this here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39806145

Nobody cares. It’s an old guy from another time who says what he like, quite often, but not always tongue in cheek.

Quite. Best thing they could have done was get out. If your mother was hounded to death by “the press” and your wife was being treated like absolute st every day by the media and general public while she was pregnant with my first child, I’d be off too. Two humans beings who have committed no crime being hounded out of the country is fking shameful display from grown adult of this country.

I’ve never quite understood people having such strong opinions about people they don’t know, have never met and have only been fed nonsense stories about. Bizarre in every way. Media doesn’t learn, doesn’t care and are only looking for click bait in the form of negative news to earn their revenue. They don’t have any level of humanity or decency and write this shyte because equally horrific people gobble it up.

P.S I’ll take a wild guess at who asked about the skin colour of Archie, and his name rhymes with Bill the Meak.

Suicidal thoughts and apparently confirmed by Harry that there were questions and concerns raised within the Royal Family about the skin colour of their child.

But hey just ignore all of that and keep focussing on gold digging and it all being about Archie's title.

I have to give the Mail 10/10 for running this as their main headline without a shred of irony or possibly asking the question "Did we play any part in this?

Christ.

On the issue of if Archie should/should not be a prince. How is it that Eugenie is a princess? She was definitely born post 1917.

Having read most of this thread it's clear how effective the media have been in manipulating the population.

Anyway, this interview just confirms what the royals (and more importantly the people who surround them) are: fundamentally racist, outdated and shameless really.

No real surprises there

How do posters know the protocol of whether Archie should have a title or not? Is there some kind of ready primed ‘excuse-central’ ready for this announcement to defend the royals?

Given their public profile and duties were similar to Will & Kate it is perhaps surprising there was not a more accommodating solution - but it seems there wasn’t. Not entirely surprising the decision makers were/are tone deaf - their advisors, if they took advice, are clearly muppets.

It is interesting to consider what the best way out if this is for both parties. You’d hope some kind of reconciliation is possible at some stage.
