UK order of succession is Charles, William, George, Charlotte, Louis, Harry, Archie, Andrew, Beertricks and the Genie... and so on and on.

Georgie becomes 18 in 2031 so Sway is right that if Lizzie, Charlie and Billy croak before 2031then Katie might become Regent. There would of course be a 'Constitutional Crisis' and the fact she is most decidedly common would be the argument of any pretenders to the throne (Arry, Andrew et al) but for continuity of line then George is still numero uno and Katies demeanour and standing might/should/perhaps be enough for the secret powers that be to install her as Regent rather than have the pretenders argue the toss endlessly.
Looking into this further the Regency act of 1830 specified that Queen Victoria's Mother would become regent if the King should die before she turned 18.

It seems highly likely therefore, given this precedence, that Kate would become regent, in the unlikely eventuality that the queen, Charles and William die in the next ten years.

Will he manage to stay until Wednesday, that being the Queens birthday?
No.

He couldn't even manage that.

What is more likely is that the same approach would be taken as when the monarch is indisposed and that Kate, whilst legally regent, would act jointly with Harry as Councillors of State until George reached the adulthood

If you take William out of that while Charley is still alive it would go to Harry.
Eldest son.

I don't believe so. In that case, it'd still be eldest child of eldest son (as the rules were changed).

Pretty sure George's place isn't dependant on his dad being alive.

The trouble with this plan is there would need to be a replacement. I don't trust politicians to be able to resist the opportunity to appoint themselves as President...

At the risk of boring people since I know I've brought this up twice before; I cant see any logical reason why we need a president. We are a democracy. Surely we can make that work without an unelected pensioner playing a key role?

And the role is to do absolutely nothing, whatever the circumstances. Seems easy to do without.

There has to be a Head of State. Every nation has one.

It's even better if that HoS is apolitical, and hugely well respected globally...

So who acts as head of State?

We need a small group of people who are prepared to take on such a role on a continuous basis. Maybe a family of some sort.
