I haven't followed it that much but as I understand it this guy has been implicated in this kind of thing for years.

I can't help but think there would be easier ways than waiting for him to get to jail then having him survive one suicide attempt only to try again and succeed.

He got away with it once, don't forget.
This was a second go by those not connected, and looked like it was getting somewhere.
A lot of light was starting to be shone on a some very powerful people - including trump.
