Are any of the parties and politicians honest and up front. All I'm seeing is spin and blatant hammering home of three word mantra's at every opportunity like its the output of a marketing workshop a few weeks ago. I just roll my eyes and think to myself, here we go again, meaningless bullst statements. Labour and Conservative are aggressively tearing into each other, and promising the undelieverable and unaffordable. I don't have any confidence that if either side won they'd be able to deliver half what they are promising.
Add in the nonsense about the Conservative twitter feed being 'rebranded'. They must think people are stupid if they are trying to defend this as being perfectly normal that is was 'crystal clear' it was Conservative Party feed - yea, well why the hell bother to rebrand it for a couple of hours. Deliberate deceit is the only logical answer.
I am truly thankful I'm not on Twitter or Facebook or Instagram. I can only imagine what misleading and targeted crap people are being fed. It worries me that a good deal of the population will probably lap it up unquestioningly. People worry about the Daily Mail brainwashing middle England. That's nothing compared to the power of social media and technological targeting to lead a mass population by the nose to a pre-determined viewpoint. Scary when you think about how it could be used.... Is it that incredible that a resurgent Russia might be keen to destabilise and neuter the influence of the EU by 'helping' one of its bigger members to leave? Why not disassemble the UK by 'helping' Scotland to break away? Suddenly Europe and the UK are shadows of their former selves and far less capable of carrying weight in the global power game. Easy to dismiss as conspiracy, but some very clever people with very clever tech were able to target an pick out enough people and play to their emotional drivers in 2016. It increasingly happens in elections everywhere. I find it really sinister.
Anyway, as a remainer I determined well before the election that if Lib Dem's had a policy that would be explicit and clear that if in power they would rip up A50 and stop this crap, on that policy alone they would get my vote. I haven't changed my mind on that at all.
I really don't care what other domestic policies they have. They aren't proposing anything as extreme as either Conservatives or Labour and I haven't seen anything that would run this country off a cliff in a single 5 year term. Much of it appears fairly middle ground and not that radical. Besides, we get the choice again if we don't like what they've done. Not something we get once we leave the EU.
There's nothing I see from Labour or Conservatives that say to me leaving the EU will fix any of the problems of this country - nearly every issue that affect people's every day lives is already in the gift of the UK Government anyway and being in or out of the EU will made sod all real difference for the majority other than in a few edge cases.

Is there any point in voting Lib Dem? Serious (ish) question.
I mean, you may feel the Lib Dem policies align with your own values, or you may dislike the two main parties (yes this is an England-centric post) and you may vote Lib Dem on that basis and I understand that.
But they will not form the government. Their handful of MPs will be relegated to jumping up and down and heckling from the sidelines. You will have lost the opportunity of influencing who runs the country. Those policies you agree with and like so much? They will never be implemented.
The best you can hope for is a hung parliament and some kind of leverage over the balance of power, which will see you steam-rollered by your bigger, stronger partner and forced to make compromises that go against your principles (see last time). Is that what it is all about?
Is a vote for the Lib Dem’s a mere protest vote, similar in effect (none) to a spoilt ballot?
In my view, one of the better recent governments was the conservative / lib dem coalition. They both had to compromise as neither had absolute power but generally they rubbed off the more extreme edges of their respective positions and trod a pretty stable and sensible middle ground. The problem was the Conservatives hated sharing power, and the Lib Dem core voters appeared to take the view it is better to be a principled, but shouty irritating white noise in the background, rather than actually be in power and have some chance of influencing policy, even if you do have to compromise.
But to your point, you don't loose the opportunity to influence who runs the country as presumably if you wanted Boris or Corbyn to run it with a majority you'd vote for them. If you vote for the Lib Dems, I assume you are making a statement that you don't really want either of them to be running things. If enough people take this view and a hung parliament results, doesn't that actually reflect the diverse will of the people??
Time someone actually changed the first past the post system - how many years have people said its not fit for purpose??? 100% vested interest from the two main parties that it's kept though, regardless of what the people want. Power is everything for them.

Its going to destroy commercial letting as no one will take the risk of building a new site if they will get stung with an extra tax just for owning the properties.
If they cant find a tenant or lose the current one it could bankrupt them.
Imagine the impact of that policy in a recession, farmers would be destroying their small units usually rented out on site, this will mean nop propeties when the upturn comes.
Its just a crazy idea for multiple reasons, as is their proprty taxes to replace council tax.
Rich wkers problems, cry me a riverIf they cant find a tenant or lose the current one it could bankrupt them.

Huge numbers of SME's and startups rely on the small trading estates and units provided by small scale landlords and farmers who diversified to survive.
Take them out of the supply of available premises and you have a problem.
Sam Gyimah having an absolute car crash on LBC.
Followed by one of their candidates being suspended for antisemitic comments.
"Waheed Rafiq, the Lib Dem candidate in the Birmingham Hodge Hill constituency, has been suspended from the party for making “clearly and unambiguously antisemitic” comments on social media.".

Lib dems are going to setup a database of anyone flying using your passport number, then ramp up a tax on the flight by more each time you fly. A flight to usa could cost over £1k in tax.
So guys like me, who tend to fly six times a year for work, are now going to get hammered on tax if i fancy a holiday.
My employer and therefore customer will get hammered with a higher bill to cover this extra tax.
fk that.

It is generally those that travel a lot, or like the idea of being able to travel a lot, that want to stop Brexit.
Hardly a vote winner.
The Lib Dems have had only what? 6 weeks to campaign, we are just over 2 weeks or so in and they have pretty much ruined it for themselves already. Haha
Idiots.
I see all their Corp Tax calculations were also based on Boris reducing Corp tax, which he has not done, so not actually raising £11bn at all, but they are still trying to argue they are, because if he had done something that is how much they would save.
No, you just wouldn't. Stop.....and.....think.....about.......it..........for...........a............second.
Nope, they still haven't got it.
Jesus wept.
