From the feeling around wales it could be a possibility wales could turn blue the only thing stopping them is the valleys which has way to many seats for its tiny area. I don't know any body how is voting labour with most either reluctantly voting tory and going for plaid cymru.
Even my next door neighbour him and his wife are voting tory due to corbyns plans on housing and land which would loss them thousands.
There is a huge lack of trust with labour its failures in the assembly, wasting money on Cardiff airport, circuit of wales, m4 relief road plus other failures is causing a big shift in voting patterns. Also put in the huge leave vote especially in the valleys and with labour flip flopping on Brexit if things go good maybe some valley seats could switch sides but that is a huge if.

There’s been a lot of anti Tory stuff in the media recently, doesn’t surprise me

I think in the next couple of days there’s more to come too

Cons will have a small majority imo and brexit will continue to be deadlocked as a result then a second ref will happen

That’s nowhere near “conclusive”. 326 needed for an overall majority, practically 320 due to the speaker/deputies and Sinn Fein. That’s a wafer thin majority given how inaccurate the polls have proven in the last few years.
Also then there's the Torys that are remainers...if any will exist in this brave new world

People keep muttering about the weather affecting turnout, but my gut feeling is poor weather would favour the Tories, as their core vote seem to have a higher propensity for getting their arse in gear and going to vote.

I wonder if there is any data on this?
You could ask the people that postally voted?

All my staunch Tory relatives had their votes back in the post the day after they got them and have been telling every man, son, son-in-law and dogs and followers. My wife, whom isn't a Tory, hasn't sent her postal vote back yet and "might go and vote in person on the day if she doesn't get stuck in traffic........."!!!!!!

Well, no one really knows in advance, so its likely BS. What is correct, is that regardless of a polling lead of 10%; Boris coudld still lose / come in hung if the marginals don't go the right way. There are 90 of those, so it IS harder to tell than Boy Georges gender (back in the 80's anyway).
It's not entirely BS on the postals I think. Remember it was the postals which made some people reckon Leave were in with a chance of winning in 2016.

It's just that the figures I've heard from a couple of places are out of line with what you might expect but they've been checked and seem right. So who knows.
so, what ARE the postals indicating?
Nothing. As others have said, if anyone knows, they will be doing serious bird.

Usual fake claims and BS.

Oh hell. Just realised. With Labour possibly in for kicking in Wales (Friday obvs for the real picture), we could end up with Plaid a a comparable or bigger opposition to the Blues here.

Bugger.

We will never hear the end of it.

Yep tight

Tories could be as low as 311 based on that poll.

If, say, the Tories get around 315 I am really curious why many remainers seem to think they will get a second referendum.

The path if the Tories get a decent majority seems clear. The WA already of the table will be passed and then FTA negotiations will start without parliament trying to hijack the proceedings.

In the event that the Tories can only form a government with the support of the DUP the path of least resistance is to simply wait until 31 January and then leave without a deal...…….

Given the number of stories in the last few days that have been leaked with timing in mind, the day before polling day should be really juicy!

I tend to agree; the postal votes will be verified each day by local authorities; as a candidate or an agent you are allowed to view this procedure. I was an elected councillor during the Scottish referendum and the postal vote verification was done in an office down the corridor from mine; I was genuinely interested in the process so went along for a look - if you were so minded you could perhaps carry out a small sample in your head as the ballots were opened/verified but this would be a fairly pointless exercise as it wouldn’t tell you much as well as being illegal. They don’t sort the ballots into candidate/party, all they do is verify them; the sorting of postal ballots is done along with ballots cast on election day, so I struggle to see how anybody could gain any meaningful data.

The count is always interesting; all the parties will have members/tellers there to look over the shoulder of those counting/sampling the ballots, recording the results and importantly where the ballot box came from (box number/ward - the demographic of the area is obviously important). This information is collated, compared to previous results, and fed back to party managers; it’s important because you can get a fairly accurate indication of the result early on in the count.

If Boris Johnson has five children, and then he fathers another one, does that mean he has six new children? Asking for a nurse.
No but if 5 leave home and he father 5 more, then yes he has 6 new children.

I'll get Diane to check the numbers though.

I did something stupid last night, I entered into a debate with a labour supporter on social media.

Want to guess how it went?

I got called a racist and cruel before we'd even got 2 sentences in.. and they've since deleted their comments.

Have people lost the ability to have a proper debate without resorting to stereotyping and name calling? I feel like the whole thing has become toxic and I blame the 2 main parties for that - they've hardly behaved.

Have a read of the comments on the conservative facebook group if you've not already, look at the language used and the levels of bitterness and anger pointed at Tory supporters.

I wonder how they have the time to spend trolling as much as they do - I wish I had that much spare time.

One of my closest friends has gone full anti-tory despite owning his own small company, degree educated ...blah blah. Just absolutely hates them and the language he will happily use in social media posts is appalling BUT when he does he gets the applause from the unwashed masses - so perhaps that's why.

We were accosted outside our children's primary school at collection time by some Labour canvassers last week. They got quite aggressive with us when we failed to engage with them, telling us how awful the school is without the extra funding Labour would provide.

The school is fine and I just don't understand what people think they will achieve by doorstepping parents when they're going about their business.

And some of the Brexit at all costs and anti Labour stuff is just as bad, I’ve been called a deluded marxist Labour fantasist on SM for questioning some clean Brexit none sense, I’ve never voted Labour.

The whole thing is Toxic and in the gutter.
