If you of the mindset that we should not be subsidising poorer areas of the Eu then we should apply the same logic to the UK.
Based on what? The above reasoning by assertion?

How did we find ourselves in the frame for funding empty new towns, unused airports and barely used new highways in Spain. for example? How come this is our responsibility?

Fortunately it looks to be ending soon and not before time; all being well Germany can assuage its own euroguilt at its own expense in the near future.
We are perfect in the UK at expenditure aren’t we. How many millions wasted in poor military procurement alone since the 50s. Healthcare not much better.

I see those areas in the Eu no differently to Blackpool or Middlesbrough, St Austell or Belfast.

You seem to have an insular view.

A slowing economy will be the perfect way to reduce immigration. It will be fun to watch if services do start to fail due to lack of resource.

Looks like another cladding relating issue, although thankfully no deaths.

You might have hoped a responsible government would have sorted this by now?
What exactly should a "responsible government" have done "by now"?

Banned combustion?
Good questions.

From the link "Mayor Andy Burnham said its cladding was not the same as at Grenfell Tower"

The government can't 'do something' about knee-jerk opportunist tosh in the run-up to elections, unfortunately.

Obviously it's good news that there were no fatalities.

Let’s not jump to conclusions. Private development so we should await fire officers report.

It is interesting that many Unis are now developing student accommodation sometimes as JVs. It a good little money earner.
I was on a MR course at Bangor Uni last month and the accommodation was brilliant, like a nice Travelodge. Apparently when not occupied by students or courses they stick it on public sites for tourists and fill them that way.

any of these vacancies due to the very low wages and high stress levels in the job?
Agi’ will not fail, mechanisation and tech’ are making inroads into the sector. Human hands requirement within the industry is falling. For example strawberry picking by robot is in an advanced
stage and will soon be available for general use. Strawberries are one of the most difficult fruits to pick.
You may need to find an alternative industry for your ‘fun to watch’.
You’re not one of those farmers are you?

Maybe in time mechanisation may take up the slack or as some of those farmers are doing is diversifying into Europe to produce their product. So foodstuff we exported now stays in the Eu.

Probably a good thing food miles wise.

In terms of the EU equivalent that's presumably why we voted out the likes of Tusk and Juncker. No, hang on, we couldn't.

UK waste by UK governments is non-zero, thanks for that breaking news, the point is that we can each do something which, collectively, can do something about preventing economic incompetence by UK politicians, Not voting Labour will go a long way but there are other options.

You appear to have the political perspective of a bottom set sixth-form political science student, but we must surely both accept that appearances can be deceptive.

It just shows what a sad, unfulfilled life Dickgnome is leading. That’s what he regards as fun and entertaining.

I’ve never understood why anyone is so anti free movement.

Why is having a family from Paris or Prague move in next door any difference from a family from Pontypridd?
where do you live?
I’ve lived in many parts of the UK but for most of my working life in and around London, but a short spell in the USA as well.

Why do you ask?
Not that you don’t know of course, but he is likely ascertaining whether you have lived in an area that has been blighted by immigration, as your incredibly naive response implies.
I have lived in areas with high immigration and I find your comment that it is a blight to be both offensive and possibly racist.
You see this illustrates in one comment why you are such a joke on this forum

1) you completely misrepresented what I said, I didn't say automatically that immigration was a blight on anything. I said that some areas have been blighted by immigration. 2 very different points as well you know

2) your accusation of being offensive and racist is exactly why we now have Brexit. People like you shouted down any attempt at a reasonable debate or any reasonable concerns, by labeling people as racist for simply wanting to discuss immigration. How is even your deliberately misinterpreted reading of my post, racist? Have I identified or referred to a race of people?

Immigration obviously hasn't negatively affected you, that's great, but what sneering arrogance and contempt you show for other people who may not have had your fortune in life or who maybe see things & think in a different way to you

I don’t recall using the words looking forward to, nor did I say I have property on the continent. Struggling with comprehension?

Why would I have any sympathy for anyone who knowingly votes to make the nation suffer poorer growth and therefore even more squeezed finances.

As they say ‘You made your bed now lay in it.’

Maybe a deregulated cheap labour economy is just what we need.

I disagree.

Please explain exactly what you mean by areas being blighted by immigration then.

I’ve lived in London and have never considered Brixton or Clapham for instance as being blighted by anything.

We all make choices in life. You are not trapped anywhere.

What is my fortune in life. Having a very average and normal childhood I suppose and then being willing to go wherever I needed to progress.
