You reckon? I don’t think he read the guidance correctly and incorrectly assumed a negative test meant he could go about his normal life. I don’t like the man but I reckon this is more likely to be the result of an innocent misinterpretation of the rules or being a bit cheeky with counting the day of his flight in the 14 rather than a ploy to ps off Remainers or a flagrant abuse of the system a la Cummings. Either way I hope he enjoyed his pint.

If he still had the taste of Trump in his mouth, I'm willing to give him a little leeway on seeking out a pint.

Classy move Ed. We can't beat him in a debate, we can't beat him at the polls but we can just about bother him with some petty legal wkery.
So your totally ok with him breaking the law and putting peoples lives at risk for a petty political stunt?
Has it been established that he's broken the law?

If it has been established that's the case then he'll be rightfully prosecuted, and fined up to a maximum of £1000.

Whilst the guidance states that regardless of any testing for CV19 the quarantine period must be observed for 14 days, Farage stated he had been tested and the test had provided a negative result, so he didn't put any lives at risk at all when he visited the pub today.

At best any infringement was him failing by one day (if the reports are true) to observe the 14 days mandated for quarantine, based on your leanings the infringement will be judged by many as 'Oh dear' to 'Oh my god!' 'Shoot Farage or give him a life sentence at least, life to mean life'

What petty political stunt did Farage carry out? Does visiting a pub constitute a political stunt, or was it something else?
It doesn't take a maths genius to figure out he broke the guidelines. [b]The results of a test are irrelevant as to wether he should quarantine.[\b]
Which is batst crazy. Even if he had tested positive on, say, day 4 he would have "free" by day 11 if showing no symptoms at that point (or have I got that wrong?)

People breaking quarantine by 12 hours or so is the least of our problems
The tests are not perfect and do give false negatives. People breaking quarantine, especially those in a position of influence, is a major problem, hence the size of the fine.

Great, so if Leicester are allowed to come out of lockdown on the 18th, they can actually come out on the 17th?
If he broke guidance, he should face the consequences, nothing to do with whether he has had symptoms.

Exactly.

The funny thing is whenever you look on this thread there are two schools of thought.

That people who support Farage and who in many cases fund his antics directly from their own pockets will accuse anyone reporting those antics of only doing so "because Brexit".

That those same people seem completely unaware that they appear to be making excuses for Farage "because Brexit".

It's saying something when you'll do mental gymnastics to let someone off the hook bang in the middle of a pandemic because of how you feel about the EU or simply because you think doing so will annoy people like me.

£25 buys quite a hold it seems.

I kind of agree with you but it's not the "remainers" he is playing to, it's the EDL, Brexitty gammon types that he is playing. The very same types that will be funding his next campaign with their £25 payments to faarange's Ltd company.

It’s disappointing isn’t it?

I would have thought that more would have wanted to establish the facts, and to ensure that the rule of law is scrupulously upheld. It’s not a teams issue, it’s a public health issue.

He also like to do a bit of grifting and he also never fails to reel in people to give him money.

Nope no letting him off the hook...if he has broken the rules then he should suffer the consequences................as long as these "rules" apply equally to all regardless of who or what they are...or are you saying he should be selected out for special treatment and made an example of?

Next campaign?
His Nigelness’s job is complete. We are free of the EU’s shackles, still as another remainer honestly stated, you can only dream.

I don’t think he’ll need to go any where at her majesty’s pleasure, a fine will do ;-)

Nigel Farage was the right man for the job needing done.

As long as Boris doesn’t buckle in the coming months, there is no need for Farage to make a comeback.

Meanwhile, while the rest of the country has moved on - we can all have a good laugh at the Remoaners that are still bitter about the man.

It is delicious to witness.

We got there eventually didn't we biggrin

I made it perfectly clear yesterday that I'm happy for action to be taken against anyone who breaks the quarantine rules.

We disagree on the EU and Brexit and on Farage's politics.

Your wife works in the NHS and has been working hard during the pandemic and you're in a vulnerable group as I recall from another thread.

There are people on this thread who give the impression that they're perfectly happy for Farage to have apparently broken the quarantine rules because it annoys people like me.

Maybe they're on a wind-up but personally I'd be asking them why they seem to be putting politics before the safety of the likes of you and your wife.

I'd hope we probably agree on that if you aren't too stubborn to say so.

Yeah there’s still a possible future for farage in the economically damaged post covid U.K.

The less well off that felt disenfranchised aren’t going to feel better after the economy continues to tank post furlough schemes ending.

Like any recession, the effects will be worse in the brexit supporting areas. Obviously now the EU and foreigners can’t be blamed so he’ll have to find a new bogeyman. I expect it will be to aim at the Tory handling of the pandemic and other general wokness and liberals, a sort of ranting at the modern world party fuelled by economic damage.
