Terrible, I didn't grow up being taught it by my TV and cinema, what's that got to do with anything?
Can you speak any second language fluently Kev ? They don’t by the way. Many speak good English but few speak it perfectly.
I saw her in action today, she has a determination and a drive that impressed. She doesn’t come across as a puppet and she argues (points I disagree with) passionately and cogently in a non native language. She did this in an intimidating forum which whether you like it or not is a little more elevated than an X Factor audience in suits.
To compare her to a kid reading in assembly because you don’t agree with her ethos is fatuous in my opinion.

Nearly all Swedish people can speak perfect English, just like many Germans.
It's no big deal.
It just shows how uneducated the English are.
Not really, why waste your time learning all the worlds languages when the world speaks your native language? It's no big deal.
It just shows how uneducated the English are.
Use your brain power for more useful things, like learning Kung Fu so you can deflect bullets from rednecks guns.

You mean how unimportant all other languages are !!! It's no big deal.
It just shows how uneducated the English are.
Seems like you just hoist yourself on your own petard.
I’d brush up on your Chinese, Mandarin and Cantonese. Probably Spanish whilst your at it.
Brave new world and all that.

Speaker at Davos said:
To embrace the possibilities of tomorrow we must reject the perennial prophets of doom and their predictions of the Apocalypse. They are the heirs of yesterday's foolish fortune tellers, and they want to see us do badly but we won't let that happen. They predicted an overpopulation crisis in the 1960s, mass starvation in the 70s, and an end of oil in the 1990s. These alarmists always demand the same thing: absolute power to dominate, transform and control every aspect of our lives.
Hint as to identity here if needed - Greta is definitely not a fan, even though she gets an implicit mention in the first sentence - see 'death stare' previously.https://www.wired.com/2012/08/ff-apocalypsenot/

I've never seen her argue anything at all, just read from a prepared script every time. Unless there's some secret footage somewhere that's all she did today as well. Happy to convert if anyone can show me footage where she does anything different.
Why would you? I don’t see Trump taking many questions and as for open discussion.
He and or his writers can barely put a coherent speech together.

As the goldfish you won’t remember the next time around.
Bet your mates and family love having a misogynist worshiper in their midst
You really should calm down a bit and stop frothing. Bet your mates and family love having a misogynist worshiper in their midst
I am however sniggering at your attempt at a repost.
As for Greta, if she can move back from the more extreme climate propaganda she could encourage a lot of good action for the environment.

I can only speak as I find.
I think she has a laudable degree of determination and passion about her, and yes there are other kids who have that too and in a whole host of subjects.
She’s not unique but she’s captured a certain zeitgeist and found a voice. She was even a little self deferential on the panel she appeared on separately from the main address today which raised a chuckle.
So, in summary, she’s not unique, she is in my opinion intelligent, I don’t agree with much of her ethos but I don’t feel the need to avoid recognising some commendable qualities as a result.
Can’t say much more than that.

My very close friend is married to women of German extraction. The mum only ever spoke German to the children and my mate English. Needless to say they are fluent in both and can carry on bilingual parallel conversations. It’s weird.
The children now both admit that as now adults and one living in the states the German fluency is going.
only stays natural if continually spoken. That is they think in the language they are speaking.
You simply don’t seem to understand that complexity and the brain function that enables it.

As for you asking evidence in reply to my comment, she recently asked for ‘real zero’ not ‘net zero’ and there’s the evidence. Perhaps we should stop breathing...

She engaged in discussion, responding to questions, and offering opinion, I would say, not in a scripted manner.
President Trump addressed an audience of business leaders telling everyone how great the American economy was doing, and how it wanted foreign investment.
In the other sessions, Thurnberg addressed business leaders abut climate change, and risks, and also what people of her age thought about things.
Business takes note not just of investment opportunities, but also their customers.
Governments can set rules on how they award contracts. They often set requirements for businesses to adhere to certain ISO standards relating to workplace health and safety and how businesses deal with waste. If businesses don't achieve those standards, they can forget about doing any business with government. No one forces them to adhere, but in effect, they do, and all get in line.
