All the footage of the sessions she was part of are at:

https://www.weforum.org/events/world-economic-foru...

She engaged in discussion, responding to questions, and offering opinion, I would say, not in a scripted manner.

President Trump addressed an audience of business leaders telling everyone how great the American economy was doing, and how it wanted foreign investment.

In the other sessions, Thurnberg addressed business leaders abut climate change, and risks, and also what people of her age thought about things.

Business takes note not just of investment opportunities, but also their customers.

Governments can set rules on how they award contracts. They often set requirements for businesses to adhere to certain ISO standards relating to workplace health and safety and how businesses deal with waste. If businesses don't achieve those standards, they can forget about doing any business with government. No one forces them to adhere, but in effect, they do, and all get in line.
OK, I've clicked on the link. Unless I'm missing something there are two sessions that she seems to be part of.

The 13:00 one is the one the world media has gone with and where she just reads from a paper for a few minutes at the start.

The 08:00 one she speaks for two minutes at the start, and about one minute later on, answering two questions from the host that, knowing how these sessions work having been involved in similar events, he'll have gone through with the participants in advance and they'll all have prepared their answers. She winds up at the end, again reading from a paper. There were no questions from the audience or any back and forth discussion.

So I'm still not seeing the thinking on her feet, dynamic discussion and argument, that I'm being told she's capable of - sorry. I continue to see a fairly normal 17 year old of average intelligence, who can read a speech (sometimes in a dramatic voice), granted she is able to do that in front of a large and important audience but so are many young people of her age, if they were given the same platform.

Nearly all Swedish people can speak perfect English, just like many Germans.

It's no big deal.

It just shows how uneducated the English are.
Not really. For most countries it’s an obvious choice to learn English.
As we can speak English already we have to decide if it’s worth learning another language that most other people don’t speak.
I can speak Vietnamese and a little German but mostly pointless in the majority of countries.

I've never seen her argue anything at all, just read from a prepared script every time. Unless there's some secret footage somewhere that's all she did today as well. Happy to convert if anyone can show me footage where she does anything different.
Why would you?

I don’t see Trump taking many questions and as for open discussion.

He and or his writers can barely put a coherent speech together.
I'm always bemused by the Trump haters.

President Trump gave a speech in Ohio two weeks ago.

Look at the queues to get into the arena, all those people waiting, little do they know he can't even put a coherent speech together. hehe

No other politician is supported like Trump, he sells out arenas wherever he speaks.

Absolute bks. I have been subject to near death by PowerPoint so many times during my career and I could call forth a cast of hundreds of very intelligent, adult professionals who failed to deliver pitches as well as that in their native language. Your prejudice is blinding you completely.

Not really

They all learn English because it is the language of global communication, particularly in business. If you already speak it then you can focus your educational efforts elsewhere.

The only blind people seem to be those worshipping everything this girl reads out and can't seem to give a good reason why.

I would suggest the genuinely blind are those who cannot discern between an appreciation of the speaker and an endorsement of the words.

Challenge the words written by her Hyper Activist parents and the rather concerning Eco-Facists behind them and be slammed as a child abuser

The plan works with the blind it seems.

Why are you banging this particularly hollow drum so repeatedly ?

How many times does it need to be stated that it’s possible to recognise certain qualities/abilities in a person yet disagree with what that person says.

Your hyperbole betrays your frequently exhibited lack of mental dexterity and continual desire for attention. Plenty of people have, do, and will continue to criticise her words and ethos without any fear of being called a “child abuser”.

I could ask why you spend so much time and % of your posts attacking and insulting people ? It seems to portray a very aggressive personality.

To answer, that drum needs banging because we hear constantly from those blinded by a cute kid with a death stare, the use of the words SHE said this, SHE has achieved this, SHE this, SHE that. Non of this has anything to do with the brave young girl that is used as a human shield to camouflage and distract from the Eco-Facists behind her

Smiler.

Prejudice on the table: I detest hype.

Now that's out of the way.

Did she actually say anything of worth? All I heard was whingeing & demands to "do something".
But not what, other than "listen to the scientists".

How does she know no one is doing anything? She's never spoken to me so what does she know of the energy conservation stuff I'm working on?

And engineering is key is solving the issues humans & their filthy habits cause.

I will concede that Sweden & her immediate neighbours have high % renewable, low carbon energy production.

And the governmental position on energy generation in the UK has been woeful for years. And the UK lags Sweden by a margin in the above energy criteria.

But berating people for doing nothing, especially those who have no direct say in the matter is not going to help. By championing the likes of XR, who consider car drivers as Nazi's & whose MO is anarchy, it's the direct opposite of what is needed.

It's now been politicised - any single page on any of the threads anywhere in this universe shows that.

And whilst all the whingers & antagonistic back & forth continues, those who actually work in the relevant sectors are usually too busy doing just that.

On which note...

Surely Greta is ensuring that the debate is kept fore and centre in Global politics.

That in itself is a result.

I do not concur with all of her beliefs but the assured way on which she delivers her message cannot be criticised.

Politicians in the U.K. and elsewhere find the topic very inconvenient and difficult to manage. They would love for it to go away.

Greta and her supporters are ensuring the issue of climate change stays centre stage.

I thought you were supposed to be intelligent?

Taking the piss out of rednecks in a high gun owning and using population is stupid. Most sensible people simply wouldn't take that risk.
and more open minded, less stuck up people would be able to drink in the same place as people with a different outlook on life without denigrating them.

every time i have a read on here the sandbanks wannabe just makes himself, and now also an in law, appear very different to the image that i think he would like to portray.
