39 bodies found in Lorry : illegals ?
Discussion
easy enough,
you have the trailer weighed when its sealed at point of origin,
tags go on weight gets put on the tag or if you really want to be clever a unique barcode on the tag and an online system to upload the weight that is registered for that barcode
you can then quickly and easily have the trailer dropped off the tractor unit and weighed at any point to detect an anomaly, be it theft illegals or any sort of tampering.
i'm sure most weighbridged will be accurate to within a kilo or 2 and should certainly show up a 50kg discrepancy

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/weighin...It would seem not. Weighing heavy things is hard:
"If a single plate weighbridge has been used to weigh individual axles or bogies or to add up those results to produce the gross/train weight of a vehicle, the accuracy limit is +/- 50 kgs per axle or as specified for that weighbridge by a Inspector of Weights and Measures."
"The accuracy limit for gross or train weights of a multi-plate weighbridge is +/- 50kg multiplied by the number of plates used for the weighing. Where an axle or group of axles is weighed on the same plate the accuracy limit is +/- 100kg."

Much easier said than done. you have the trailer weighed when its sealed at point of origin,

Anywhere and everywhere that you have to open the back of your truck has to have a calibrated weighbridge?
You should all give up, Apparently those super-intelligent truckers have got the optimal solution already ...

Amazing the haulage industry which employs over 2.5million people in the UK alone has never thought of implementing any of these "simple" suggestions from members here.

I'm sure I read they suffocated?
That’s exactly what I DONT want. What ACTUALLY killed the 39?
One of the victims actually messaged her relatives basically saying she could'nt breathe.

I’m not sure that’s official. IE coroners report. Are you? 100%One of the victims actually messaged her relatives basically saying she could'nt breathe.
But why the sudden need for such clarification?
Instead of wasting your time reposting on here, why dont you hit google up and read the papers seeing as we carnt give you what you want?

I read many many reports that they had frozen to death, others that they’d suffocated hence I was wondering what was official.
You don’t appear to know so I hope someone else does.
You clearly been "reading" different reports to me then. You don’t appear to know so I hope someone else does.
They suffocated as the "freezer" wasnt even turned on, as "apparantly" the Eamon lad that dropped the trailer on the other side is believed to have told them it had biscuits in it.
So much speculation going about, like why is there a bounty on Eamons head which is why hes being held in solitary, when nothing has been reported to say Mo has had the same issued to him. (baring in mind they are both charged with the same thing)
Mo pleaded guilty yesterday to the money laundering and something else but wasnt asked to put a plea in for the 39 manslaughter charges.
This Kennedy chap has now been arrested and the Hughes brothers are still in hiding.
Someone on bookface has just said the trailers been removed from where it was being held/stored but ive not read an official source.
If your on book face go on MOs profile and theres one post i think thats still allowing comments, sure it was at 10k.
Alternatively again on book face theres a page been set up called "trail by social media" and they seem to post everything as soon as its posted but theres also some fruit loops on there too.

For me, it was more the case that I thought that Government might make them do stuff.cossy400 said:

They do seem to have now moved onto suffocating.
Separate question as I’m ignorant of trucks or trafficking. How could an organised group of successful traffickers who work in haulage make such a stupid mistake as putting people in an air tight lorry?

There are criminal investigations ongoing. The autopsies will have determined the cause of death
The how’s and why’s will come out to the public in the criminal trial
The Coroners inquest will happen in due course when all the evidence is available
The result is likely to be “unlawful killing”
The inquest is not the major concern at this time .. it could be a couple of years off yet and will most likely be a formalisation if the outcome of the criminal investigation

Do traffickers prefer refrigerated trailers because they're less likely to be stopped and checked? The logic being if they're cold inside - people won't be inside? And they may look to be 'on' but are not?
I've never thought they were frozen, I believe the airtight - no air theory.
I’m think the confusion was that originally everyone reported they were frozen. As facts slowly emerged it seems they suffocated. But I don’t think there is an official report yet for obvious reasons.I've never thought they were frozen, I believe the airtight - no air theory.
The problem is newspapers all lie and report nonsense.

In my experience they get stopped more for some reason. Perhaps I’ve been unlucky but I’ve lost count of the times I’ve seen them pulling fridges and box vans while soft sided vehicles sail by even when I’ve had frozen on.I've never thought they were frozen, I believe the airtight - no air theory.
