Apart from those pesky petrol/leccy hybrids on sale until 2035 ...

So what do you currently drive Zygalski?
I’m wfh so sold my car 6 months ago & share the use of my wife’s company car. She also works from home.
Currently a full tank of petrol lasts us about 6 or 7 weeks.

Yourself?
Currently down to one car (2005 Merc SL) as we got rid of our X3 last month. New leased Volvo XC40 P8 (BEV) arrives next month.

Climate change: Stripes campaign 'started conversations'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-57...

A campaign to visualise climate change has "started millions of conversations", its creator has said.
Prof Ed Hawkins, of the University of Reading, came up with the "warming stripes" graphics to illustrate temperatures changing over time.
A social media campaign was supported by scientists, TV weather presenters and celebrities around the world.........................
This is the temperature change globally from 1850 and in the Arctic Ocean from 1893.....................continues

Wonder why those start dates ?

Climate change: Set target to cut car use, minister told

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57570010

Shifting to electric vehicles will still leave the UK with serious transport problems, a report has said.
The IPPR think tank said emissions will fall, but the number of cars on the road will continue to grow.
It foresaw a 28% increase in car ownership by 2050, leading to more jams and harm to the economy.
But the government said it had plans to make transport greener and it was committed to offering people a range of travel options.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said in March that car use must shrink.........continues

Why is this not a surprise to everyone except the government?

Gulf between PM's promises and action on climate change, advisory group warns

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-575...

There is a gulf between Boris Johnson's words and deeds on climate change, an advisory group has warned.
The Climate Change Committee says the prime minister's "remarkable" climate leadership is undermined by inadequate policies and poor implementation.
The government says its net zero strategy, due in Autumn, will show where carbon cuts will be applied.
But the CCC says that, at current progress, only 20% of the UK's ambitions up to 2035 will be achieved..................continues

I wonder why ? rolleyes

It's part of getting people out of personal transport:
'You all need to convert to EV'
'Erm, there's not enough materials in the world for everyone to convert to EV'
'Yeah, we'll have to tax you out of your cars. Soz!'

Ministers 'should urge public to eat less meat'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-575...

The UK public should be urged by the government to protect the climate by eating less meat and dairy produce, advisers say.
Cattle are a major source of planet-heating gases, but ministers fear a backlash if they ask people to cut down on steak.
But the Climate Change Committee (CCC) says people should reduce meat-eating for their health, as well as for the planet.
It says the issue's one of many failings of a government which is delivering only a fifth of its pledges on climate change.
People should be asked to eat 20% less meat and dairy produce by 2030, and 35% less by 2050, the CCC insists....continues

I wasn't designed to eat only plant stuff. Facultative Carnivores, the category in which humans belong, prioritize the consumption of animal foods but can survive (but not thrive) on vegetables.

And all those years ago, Selwyn Gummer was forcing his daughter to eat burgers.

Do you think you need to eat as much meat as you do now to be healthy?

Edited to add that I've been a long term advocate of a vegetarian lunch. I'm a "meat eater" but if I have a veggie lunch I feel way more awake in the afternoon.

Clicked on that. On dear. Old white bloke pontificating about stuff. My mental image for most of the deniers on here.

Think I favour Einstein’s opinion of common sense:

“Common sense is nothing more than a deposit of prejudices laid down in the mind before you reach eighteen.”

He does seem horrible. (The TV ranter, not Einstein.)

But the teachings deposited before you reach 18 are overwhelmingly pro AGW,
for my own experience I was happy with the science around climate change till climategate,
which made me examine the subject,
on closer examination I found the science weak and the politics controlling the science strong.
Science does not exist in a bubble, research has to be paid for, scientists have to earn money, governments decide what money is spent on,
sadly in respect of climate change its confirmation research, not critical open research.

Thats the difference between us KP, I don't think you can detect the effects of a change in a trace gas in a chaotic system that is not fully understood , you for some strange reason do........

You might not be able to detect any change, but there probably is one.

Yeah you're still stuck on basic causality/physics - that's what I'm talking about.
