Im after something as quick setting as superglue to permanently put some led strip up, all the instant nails stuff is not instant, well the ones ive used. Any recommendations for something in a tube to use with a gun please.

There is some new stuff that I have seen advertised on line that uses an ultra Violet light to set it virtually instantly. The Adverts Look good but Hey who knows?

I would say no, certainly all the ones I have used take a bit of time to set (thank god (other deities are available))

Would what is probably an old fashioned impact adhesive work? Coat both pieces allow them to dry (a bit) and then press together. Wasn't that how Bostic worked in the day? the cork top to my Mother's bathroom laundry box stayed stuck for 40 years doing it that way.

Double sided tape?

I would be careful about using adhesive, the strips are quite delicate in my experience.

Sometimes I use a type of strong but low tack tape to hold things in place while the glue sets - the blue tape that the detail guys use, leaves no residue but is strong enough. Maybe that could work with your current glue.

i used some double sided tape from screwfix today and it held it for about 2 hours then all came off. Im wondering if it's worth applying some pva to the led strip and then trying some high strength glue.

Fix it all? Has a strong initial grab, should do the trick

Contact adhesive sticks straight away. It’s very thin though so depends what you’re gluing. Brush in both surfaces and leave for at least 10 mins then when you stick it together it holds. Won’t work if led strip is trying to uncurl or something though so you have to consider.

Was the tape you used the one that is spongy ie a few mm thick?

1mm double sided glazing tape would hold it.

^ gripfill is good, ive put plenty of skirting on. I might try some of this tomorrow and use masking tape to keep it in place. Gripfill takes a while to set but it is pretty good.

What's wrong with Superglue, in particular the gel type Superglue?

^ ive got 25m of strip, normally superglue would be ideal

Pinkgrip is better than Gripfill but it's probably your best bet.

Superglue worked for me recently. Tried the tape that came with the strip, absolute crap. Tried hot glue, lasted for a few hours. Superglue has held for a while now.

LED strip will benefit from a bit of heat sink, so glue it to aluminium strip or angle first. Then screw the assembly into place. If by some chance the strip doesn't last long, then it will be easier to replace.

I cut strips of plastic milk bottle

Then use these with drawing pins / small screws / tape etc

Neve want anything permanent


I’ve even used cocktail sticks that simply slide in and out of screws even side

Side note, I’ve used milk bottle plastic to diffuse light
