I've been on ebay again and ended up winning a car after submitting a 'best offer' which I justified as it was a sufficiently low offer there was no way it would be accepted - but after a couple of messages back and forth with the seller to satisfy him I was serious and would actually turn up to collect the car, it was accepted.

The car was listed as a non runner, so naturally I have booked a one way train ticket to go and collect it, armed with a few essentials like a jump pack and my breakdown membership card I am hoping to drive it home but who knows?!

The 4.5hr train journey starts at 7am on Saturday, the seller kindly offered to collect me from the station. I'll do my best to update the thread 'en route' and in real time with my breakdowns adventures.

I gather the done thing on these type of threads is to keep the tension up by not revealing the make and model of the car until I'm standing in front of it, but feel free to have a few guesses. If you need any clues then we'll start with the price - it's £1,000

you have to give us something to work with and keep us interested though...

displacement?
number of cylinders?
driven wheels?
nationality?

I do however admire your cavalier attitude when faced with 'non runner'

Sounds too cheap for a Boxster, though I suppose of it were an utter shed it might be possible?

my guess would be an SLK (or, if you're stretching 'German' somewhat - Crossfire)

Got to be an SLK.

Why is it a non runner?

Ooh, definitely following this biggrin

I'm going with Audi TT Mk1 or SLK. A grand must be too cheap for a boxster surely?!
