A small aircraft skidded and spun on the runway after its tyres burst during an emergency landing in Costa Rica.

Everyone on board the plane survived the incident uninjured.

What was the basic problem? That was a horrendous sink rate on approach.

The translation of what the pilot was saying is a bit 'sparse'. What he seems to be saying (if my understanding of 'tren' is correct), is that the gear was down but not locked, and after doing some hard manoeuvres to try to try to fix the problem, which didn't work, they just had to land anyway. I might be wrong, the guy has a fairly impressive accent.....

The fire tender was already moving before the plane even landed. It is quite obvious the pilot had an issue and had radioed ahead for an emergency landing. It does look like the wheels were down but not locked.

In the circumstances a good landing, on concrete with no undercarriage and everyone walked away. That's a good pilot in my opinion.
