David Milliband ?

You mean the guy that lives in New York ? The one who isn’t a Labour MP? The bloke who was head of Toby Blairs policy unit and wrote the manifesto that TB won on ? DM, the guy who isn’t even the best politician in his own family ?

That David Milliband ?
The very same.

Was there a point to your post or are you genuinely confused about which David Milliband was being referred to?

Wrong on so many counts it's really quite sad.
Out of interest did you castigate techiedave and his acolytes on the Diane Abbott thread which went far beyond criticising her political and general ineptness and was, in fact, pretty tasteless?

Somehow I suspect you didn't.

That he did.

And actual political views aside, Mr Benn came from the old skool, where politicians would debate the points on the points, rather than attack the character(s) of ones opponent(s). Something that in these times imo is sorely missed.

The Labour Party have ALWAYS whined about the electorate post result.
My daughters doing something about modern politics and watches old Election night programmes.
1992 Michael Foot - hilarious waffling
They are all the same they always claim to win the argument

Only real difference this time is the wker Corbyn (I can't regard him any other way) is so determined to cling on. He has shat on people that stood for him. He is still trying to dominate
Total piece of crap

And I'n sorry to rant but just seeing John McDonnells honest response to the news of the exit poll is something you don't see often. raw and shell shocked but above all its just honest. in his reply. He then tries to divert attention away from Corbyn and blame it on Brexit
I don't trust the guy but since the election he (McDonnell) has behaved much better than Corbyn.
He may have his fingers in and be meddling but at least he isn't trying to behave as if nothing has happened

She is being touted as the “Corbyn continuity” candidate. Was it just his character you had an issue with ... policy-wise she seems pretty close to him.

I don’t need a person as party leader or PM that I could go down the pub with, personally. I’d prefer an absolute workaholic, tee-total and obsessed with the job would work for me. In fact I don’t even have to like them as long as they represent good policy and are able to get the job done.

Starmer would be my choice of the three. He is the most likely to get elected imo.

I was simply giving five reasons why DM will never lead the Labour Party. Sorry if that wasn’t clear to you, I think the point was obvious to most.

Writing a manifesto which won the Labour Party an election.... doesn’t sound like a reason he would/should never lead the party to me.

Living in New York is easily fixed.

Him being a less able politician than his brother is entirely your opinion. The leadership election he lost to Ed was lost with less than a 2% majority.

I don’t think it’s the last that Labour has seen of DM.

Sounds good. As long as you understand I can’t possibly vote for you in future were you to stand for the leadership yourself biggrin

I’d happily give any elevator pitch a listen but I’ve already made my choice.

How about his view that Brexit is the worst Foreign Policy disaster since the 1930’s. I wonder how electable a Blairite arch re-joiner is with the current Labour membership ?

I think he is a good chap, and certainly a cut several notches above the current offerings. However just cogitate for a moment.. he lost.. to Ed Milliband. I mean, is there any coming back from that ?

I think most people and most reasonable politicians are now of the view that brexit is “done”. It’s obviously not done in terms of the negotiations but it sure is happening. I can’t see any reasonable politician, including DM standing on a manifesto of rejoining. Has he even said he’s a re-joiner? One hopes that in another 4+ years time we won’t be having another election dominated by brexit. We really must get on to other things.

Quite right.
I believe that an adjustment to the whole voting process is in order. Not embracing complicated crap like PR but a simple cooling off period.
Blatantly everything is stacked against the Labour Party. They have been conspired against in Scotland by that Sturgeon woman so now they have no MP#s there.
All of the media is against them. Laura Kuenssberg should be put on trial for her biased and vile attitude to Labour

Anyway electronic voting should be introduced. And if it can simply be done via a vote on a smart phone or a touch screen vote in a polling station then it could be utilised.
If someone votes for a conservative candidate then a simple "are you sure" screen should pop up and the voter can then think about if they want to confirm theit conservative choice.
In a polling station an alarm could sound and the voter could then be usheed into a private room by a Labour official who could ask the voter why they are not voting Labour and there objections could be discussed.A bit like when you press the I want to leave option on a mobile phone companies helpline. And if the voter still wants to vote Tory then fair enough. Their details can be noted and they can receive special attention at the next election

Labour should be given the chance to explain things to people. They don't have the chance to do this under the current system
