Coronavirus - Is this the killer flu that will wipe us out?

Pollution and smokers, yes. But can that alone count for the massive amount of deaths?
Don't underestimate the damage pollution and smoking does to the lungs. Then you get a Flu that works from the lung cells, that helps it multiply also damages lung epithelial cells, causing fluid buildup in the lungs. Then pnemonia onset, game over. Link that to a weakened immune system, older and very young.
Article here stating it is similar to Sars damage.

''The man received a barrage of medicines as doctors in China tried to save him. That included the anti-infection treatment interferon alfa-2b, the AIDS medicines lopinavir and ritonavir, and the antibiotic moxifloxacin to prevent a secondary bacterial infection.
He also received the steroid methylprednisolone to treat inflamed lungs and “serious shortness of breath” and lack of oxygen in his blood.''

I'm quite fond of my elderly relatives, so that snippet (which we already knew) isn't a huge comfort.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-515409...

Thirty Brighton doctors in coronavirus isolation
It does seem that at some stage PHE will need to review the precautionary self-isolation policy, or half the NHS will end up staying at home.
Getting so many doctors in one room probably wasn't the best idea, in retrospect.
How do attitudes to coronavirus differ across the world?

I think they will eventually identify two types.
Self-employed people will get the covid-19se version, which despite the advice to self-isolate for 14 days, has such minimal impact that people will carry on working.
The other type, covid-19, will only infect public sector workers and private sector workers with generous sick and holiday pay entitlements.
No one knows why this is likely, only that vast swathes of covid-19 sufferers will take one to two weeks off to self-isolate (as soon as the weather improves a bit) whilst almost all covid-19se sufferers will carry on driving taxis, laying bricks and generally working as normal.
Regression will be much more likely in covid19 sufferers as summer approaches and covid19 sufferers will be much more susceptible to infection than covid-19se sufferers. covid19-se infected are most likely to be ill at weekends. Symptoms of covid-19 are more likely to appear at weekends necessitating the following week off.

Are these gps rampant in the way they intereact with each other, or is this horribly infectious? It does seem that at some stage PHE will need to review the precautionary self-isolation policy, or half the NHS will end up staying at home.

I still cannot get my head around the info to schools posted yesterday. 30 medical professionals having to stay home for 2 weeks in case they picked it up at a meeting, and now (2 weeks alter) the ROOM is being fumigated, and yet they want our kids to just got to school and carry on as normal! No handwashing tips / breaks, no gel dispensers, no education on not passing it about...!
Crazy and very contradictory indeed.

That's "CCG", as in the Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group, as opposed to "CCP". Of course, this anonymous medic they're quoting might just have a grudge.poo at Paul's said:

An infected GP is bad news, given that by definition they spend a lot of time around sick people. I think it's right to be very careful there. Suspect that the fumigation of the room 2 weeks later is biosecurity theatre to make the public feel safer.

454 people in a confined space. Lots of diseases have spread around cruises before. Not surprising at all.
None are dead. Are any even ‘very’ ill?
How long have they been symptomatic? When I looked at this the other day, even with a very much higher than realistic death rate we wouldn't expect deaths yet.None are dead. Are any even ‘very’ ill?
