Is the advice for family members to isolate as well? Surely if relatives have contracted it then picking them up in the car at the airport gives possibility for family etc to get it?
It’s a good point.

They all went in a coach trip to Italy from our school in south Birmingham.

We actually laughed and joked about the Coach trip of over 22 hours would be murder.

Scarily it seems it’s now closer to the truth!

I’m hearing there’s more cases in Spain now, not sure whether it’s mainland or Canary Islands

It was really scary to see, and even more so to try and explain to my young chidren what was actually going on.
Surely you just tell them the truth? They might be sick so they are off for treatment? It's not like they will be executed or turn into Zombies.
We tried to do just that, but with kids aged 13 and 11 they have access to more up to date social media feeds than we do!

But that is the truth? Whilst it does seem to be much more dangerous than the flu which it's often compared to it is an illness and they will be treated if sick.

I think you need to wise up a bit.
6,000 odd tested. 13 positive. 0 deaths. Not even your cockeyed maths can make that look anythjngnother than the square root of FA
Same position as Italy 5 days ago then?

I'm intrigued, so what did you say, from your earlier post I pictured them as a lot younger.

First case in Algeria. (Italian man who landed there Feb 17th).

Translation:

"The first case of coronavirus that appeared in China has been recorded in Algeria, Health Minister, Abderrahmane Benbouzid announced Tuesday during his visit to the ENT at 8 p.m.

According to the minister, the virus was detected on an Italian national who arrived in Algeria on February 17. The analyzes carried out at the Pasteur Institute in Algiers confirmed the infection of the Italian national by the coronavirus.

'All measures have been taken for the care of the patient' who was placed in isolation, said the minister.

Benbouzid added that a second Italian national examined was not infected before ensuring that all the preventions were taken at the land, maritime and air borders."

Italy has now exported cases to Algeria, Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany, Croatia and Spain.

Definitely behind the curve detecting these Italy cases. It must be raging there. And all these people who travelled from the region a week ago and are only getting diagnosed now...

Good call. It would be madness to take the risk.

Anyone started ‘prepping’? Obviously that picture of the Austrian fella earlier was on the extreme end, but my £150 weekly shop today turned into £500 of stocking up on essentials. It’s not that I’ve been cleaning Asda out of Spam and noodles, but I reckon I could manage a month without leaving the house.

It’s all normal stuff so it’ll get used whatever happens but I felt that a) if I have to self-quarantine we’ll be fairly self sufficient, and b) if there’s a mad panic buying spree I’ll have already done it!

I realise it sounds a bit mental (and genuinely I’m not that concerned) but I don’t see any harm in having the cupboards fully stocked.
I’ve decided when I get home tomorrow I will stock up on things I’d normally have bought anyway. Things seem to have turned quickly once it does hit.

I’m not sure what you mean.

My two kids are pretty bright,,plus they are well up on social media trends too.

So when we said to them don’t worry it’s just a precaution, they said well in all the years we have been on holidays in lots of countries and airports we’ve never seen anything like that before, so should we be worried mum and dad?

Trust me as a parent it really really focuses the mind!

I bought 6 months’ supply of contact lenses instead of the usual 3, today. This is only because my coal tar skin cream prescription has been delayed due to manufacturing issues in China.

It's very funny right up until the point you get a nosebleed and before you know it he's stuck an axe in your head.
