It was really scary to see, and even more so to try and explain to my young chidren what was actually going on.
My two kids are pretty bright,,plus they are well up on social media trends too.
So when we said to them don’t worry it’s just a precaution, they said well in all the years we have been on holidays in lots of countries and airports we’ve never seen anything like that before, so should we be worried mum and dad?
Trust me as a parent it really really focuses the mind!
Could this possibly be SO mild that it doesn’t even come up as positive in tests for most people? But they can still spread it?
That could explain why so many tests have come back negative which is kind of unfathomable at the moment?
Who knows, 8 million in Wuhan could have it and only 80,000 somehow show a positive test result?

It does seem odd that if this is so infection why we haven't seen alot more. That could explain why so many tests have come back negative which is kind of unfathomable at the moment?

Google suggests the population of Wuhan is 11,800,000 and reports say 5,000,000 escaped.
So out of the 6,800,000 left only 1.2% have been infected?

On a serious note my priority "prep" now is not to get sick or pick up any injuries that would require a trip to the hospital. Don't take any risks basically.Go to work, don't do anything stupid, come home, drive carefully and rinse and repeat.
Was supposed to be in Milan next week for a meeting but CEO called from Houston today to say stcan it.
Interested to see when the first case pops up in Scotland given the 6 Nations fixture in Rome last weekend. Vast majority of Italian rugby supporters hail from the north of the country.

Why on earth you'd want to take your family with kids into an airport at the moment, I don't know.
For those worried now with closed schools, or who are in isolation, etc etc, or having to explain to kids why the hazmat guys just wheeled off some guy in a mask, was the trip really worth it?
Of course, all the billy big balls will say, "yes and I would go again tomorrow", but we know you're full of st. They will be the first ones bhing ad moaning if they or a loved one gets ill.
People should have been taking this all a bit more seriously, IMHO. Anyone who really thinks what the Chinese have done with their own people (and god knows what they may have been doing and kept secret) is just over "a bit of flu", really is daft. Why they have acted this way, what they know about it, well they haven't said as such, but they know more about it than they are letting on, that is for sure.

The number of negative tests in the UK means bog all it’s an irrelevant number. That could explain why so many tests have come back negative which is kind of unfathomable at the moment?

WHO have said they don’t think there’s a lost cohort In China so that’s pretty dramatic. The worst news this week and really fked me off for two reasons:
a) there’s no massive home recovery cohort to balance the hospital stats to, to get them down
b) it proves WHO have been using the stats as they are, as they aren’t altering their numbers in the light of ‘no recovery cohort’
8 mil vs 80,000? Already answered as millions upon millions left and the remainers have been in isolation. At least it shows isolation has worked.

Good friends of ours have a son & partner who work in Hong Kong. Apparently there's a major shortage of toilet roll, so they are posting it over from the UK. However, it's liable to get nicked en-route if ID'd so they have to take the cardboard roll out the middle and flatten it, then wrap it in old clothes to hide it!some might think this is the real reason the WHO are reluctant to declare a pandemic? cant have all those private investors losing their money on these bonds that have made them squillions since 2017!!

So IMO - WHO have pissed about with the figures to give a more acceptable rate up to today by:
a) using case numbers on the recovery side of the equation
b) using the ‘dont know how many home recoveries there are’ as an extra mythical fudge.
c) finally fudging it with ‘this might not be accurate’ or in some instances just x%?
Now b) has gone, they’re faced with the reality of ‘the hospital stats are it’ so I expect a revision of the rate will be in order after pressure from scholars for them to update it in the light of this.
THEN this Govt will do something - stop Chinese/Italian etc flights would be a good start!
