Do we think the SNP are going to follow suit with today's Stamp Duty announcement?

As it stands moving south of the border looks ever more tempting.

Due to complete on a new build in September/October 2020 and the extra cash would be a boost for using elsewhere

I'm not holding my breath for the SG to follow suit, either in full or in part.

I'm not really fussed about SD but I hope they follow the green homes grant thing so I can get nice and fat on lovely taxpayer money. smile

If that happens they will literally be paying me to buy a house in Spain. And then fk off there. Come on SNP, you know you want to, one less yoon bastart hehe

Even if she did do it, it would likely only apply to properties less than £325,000, since that is the start of the magical "10%" tax threshold.

As her supporters can't afford homes over that threshold, they would not be in favour of any help to those that can (and who most likely do not support the SNP).

Sunak made it crystal clear in the mini Budget all these changes are flowing instantly to the Barnett formulae so all non devolved are as per announcement today but the devolved powers it will be interesting to see how they make changes. Will they simply bank the cash or lie oh we don’t have the money.

Bank the cash and lie. Then think of more freebies to bribe voters with.

Close. They will want to bribe their voters. Their demographic will not be interested in stamp duty at £500k. Cheap food on the other hand...

This would give Sturgeon a bit of a problem. With the recent realisation by a lot of employers that WFH is actually quite workable and efficient then more and more staff can work from further afield than the normal commuter belts. These workers are more likely to be higher earners and more likely to be ‘upwardly mobile’. By not following suit with Westminster then it becomes even more attractive to such workers to move South and thus begins the brain drain and the SNP dream of independence recedes further.

Watching the stamp duty with interest.
I’m a FTB, so a cut in stamp duty would be welcomed as I’m looking to get a property before Christmas.

Will she follow the lead or sit and deny us the cash back?

ABC1s don't vote for her. The less of them there are, the more her grip is strengthened. She CGAF about business. She does not understand it and barely tolerates it. We would all work for the state in her universe.

I think there is only one solution to end all this nonsense...flatten the Scottish Parliment and build a car park on the ground at least then it will be of some use, sack all the jumped up councillors and make them work for the NHS for free as a punishment for all the problems they've caused.

I never voted for the creation of the Parliment back in 1997 as I knew it would be a disaster from the off...and I was proved correct just look at the mess we have now, the cost of running it as far as I can tell is knocking on £100 million a year that money could be put to much better use anywhere else and more to the point get those snouts out of the gravy boat...despicable the lot of them they make be sick.

They really do grasp every chance to fk us over.

Wonder how long they can keep that stance before public outcry gets to them.

Yes, but where do/will all those ABC1s pay income tax if they live in England post ‘the dream’?

We’re moving house in two weeks. Scottish Government fked us over with this one.

On the same day, they’ve announced cuts to childcare - which we were relying on to get my wife back to work.

Oddly enough childcare was meant to be front and centre of an independent Scotland in indyref1.

Bar stewards!

That's shocking to hear.

COVID has highlighted all over the world how crucial childcare is. Not impressed!

Sorry not sorry, but should babysitting really be the responsibility of the state? (Answer is no btw).

This was one of Brown's ideas wasn't it? Along with tax credits- let's make everyone a client of the government. Not done them much good though has it? Ungrateful bds happy to take take take but still won't vote Labour. hehe

She doesn't care. No evidence that anyone is moving to England. I am not remotely convinced she wants indy; why bother when she has power without responsibility. We need to pray for a split in the indy vote.

The childcare industry is completely fecked in a post 9-5 world except for very young kids. We will just drop off and pick up our kids from school to suit and save a four figure sum every month. I can see childcare at less than half it's current industry size. Some nurseries will not survive. And the people who use their house will soon have a shortage of kids.
