I wonder if it hasn’t been planned: Javid was hardly going to allow his advisors to be sacked especially after Cummings got shot of his spad last year.
Rishi Sunak offered the job straight away.

Javid resigns on point of principle rather than political direction.

Boris probably knew he wouldn't tolerate no. 10 selecting the advisors so forcing his hand.
