I'm fascinated by the idea that instead of posting in this thread people could be helping the UK through a crisis.

What would that look like? How would one direct their energy toward helping?

And ironically, instead of posting in this thread, perhaps JB could have been helping the USA through a crisis.

(Of course, Mericans don't get irony, so it's no surprise. I blame Alanis Morisette)

A whistleblower (no, not that one, one of the other ones) is petitioning Trump for a pardon: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/feb/17/re...

Having leaked NSA reports on Russian interference in the 2016 elections, you'd think her chances can't be high. But Trump has previously tweeted in her support, so who knows?

Ironically, he might well do seeing as that's what he does for a living smile However, the sentiment of your post is entirely correct.

He's a fairly eloquent guy so obviously had an education therefore it's strange that as an adult he's just decided to stop educating himself by deciding that anything that doesn't flatter Trump is of no interest to him.

It's Jimbeaux. Some revere him as "part of the furniture" because he's been here for not as long as others, and he posts quite a lot.

He is our "US-slant" on things smile

Eh? Revered? JimCrow? He appears here only when there is a US election so he can spout his often nudge and wink racist BS in support of Trump. He hasn't posted here for years until he turned up and bombarded the thread with his drivel.

His MO is consistent. He turns up, spouts his bile ad nauseum and then gets offended when people call him out. He flounces off regularly but always comes back because he has little else in his sad life but trolling UK websites in support of his hero.

It's not surprising for me.
The businessman I met near Yosemite , employing 50+ people who insisted Obama was a muslim, not an american, believing trumps birther nonsense and every other trump talking point, especially about immigration.
The religious leader I met, cant remember what church, who insisted God was on trumps side...

trump has opened further the countries divides. Previous presidents have tried to move the US forwards, trumps reversing that, and in many ways the US is still 50 years behind.

The independent Federal Judges Association has called an emergency meeting Tuesday to address growing concerns about the intervention of Justice Department officials and President Donald Trump in politically sensitive cases.

Philadelphia U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe, who heads the independent Federal Judges Association, said the group “could not wait” until its spring conference to weigh in on a deepening crisis that has enveloped the Justice Department and Attorney General William Barr.

“There are plenty of issues that we are concerned about,” Rufe told USA TODAY. “We’ll talk all of this through.”

Rufe, nominated to the bench by President George W. Bush, said the group of more than 1,000 federal jurists called for the meeting last week after Trump criticized prosecutors' initial sentencing recommendation for his friend Roger Stone and the Department of Justice overruled them.

Interesting efforts at data collection by trumps campaign.

The Republican National Committee recently asked Florida tax collectors for the email addresses of every taxpayer in their system, a request that would've given Trump's reelection effort the personal information of millions of Floridians. The request was ultimately denied but it demonstrated the massive data effort behind President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign.

https://www.tampabay.com/florida-politics/buzz/202...

Remember this is data that Cambridge Analytica assisted in collecting for them in the last campaign, that Manafort shared with the russians so their bot farms could use targetted attacks.

Bolton took to the stage last night to promote his forthcoming book, refused to answer akward questions and hinted there was more to come but his book might b e censored.

Mr. Bolton refused to go into the details of the Ukraine matter that led to Mr. Trump’s impeachment, and he did not offer an opinion about the outcome of the trial that acquitted the president. At various points, he instead offered coy answers, suggesting it would all come out in his book if he is allowed to publish it.

The audience applauded when Duke professor Peter Feaver asked Bolton why he was willing to comply with Senate subpoena but not House subpoena. Bolton declined to divulge any new details, repeatedly telling the moderator "Nice try" and telling people to wait for his book.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/17/us/politics/joh...

Bolton says of the Trump administration's North Korea policy: "I think this has been a wasted two years. ... We've given them two years more to advance their [nuclear] program."

Did you hear the latest con job? President Obama is now trying to take Did you hear the latest con job? President Obama is now trying to take credit for the Economic Boom taking place under the Trump Administration. He had the WEAKEST recovery since the Great Depression, despite Zero Fed Rate & MASSIVE quantitative easing. NOW, best jobs numbers....

....ever. Had to rebuild our military, which was totally depleted. Fed Rate UP, taxes and regulations WAY DOWN. If Dems won in 2016, the USA would be in big economic (Depression?) & military trouble right now. THE BEST IS YET TO COME. KEEP AMERICA GREAT!

Needless to say the responses wasn't what he was expecting...

Isn't it rather ironic that the acronym TDS is used to describe those against Trump, when it should be used for his followers?

A Derangement Syndrome seems a fitting description for those willing to excuse crimes and appalling behaviours for what - a feeling of MAGA, some (short term) extra dollars in your pocket etc?

In the spirit of disclosure, I'm an entrepreneur that's made £m's so am certainly no Lefty. To give credit where due, I think bringing offshore money back via corporation tax reductions is probably a good thing (some tax is better than no tax), and banning bump stocks is a baby step in the right direction. However, Trump is a common or garden Con-Man making money whilst he can get away with it. He doesn't give an F about anything or anyone else.

I do subscribe to the problem of democracy - two idiots can outvote a genius, but in this case it seems that Trump was aided and abetted by the Old Enemy, which makes him a Traitor.

Am I wrong?

Why is the data limited to Obama's second term only?

Because we wanted to give Trump a chance.

It'd look even worse if we included Obama's first term.

Statistics are often used as a drunken man uses a lampost, for support rather than enlightenment. biggrin
