Do you accept that at 16,241 lies to date, trump might be a tad more dishonest than other politicians?

The current one has been designated a SARS type virus. Not the common cold.

I’m not massively concerned about it at the moment but I don’t think it is sensible to suggest to people it is just like a common cold.
I agree, it could be worse and even morph more. I do agree with another poster here that suggested the media will hype as much as possible to get ratings. Think how many this virus has killed vs. the “common” annual influenza. Yet we hear comparatively less about that.

Yes, perhaps so. What is more concerning is someone who is “counting lies” or what debatable sources call lies. There is unhealthy obsession at work there.
That is akin to claiming someone pinched off an abnormally low number of turds over 985 days therefore it is suspected that his fiber intake is in question.

I suspect the 'unhealthy obsession' with the counting of lies is probably directly down to realising how many lies he was telling. It would be far more unhealthy to let him get away with it.

Do you really believe that the lies are being noted is actually 'more concerning' that the fact that your president is telling them?

That astonishes me if you really mean it.

Of course not. Did anyone keep count of past POTUS or PM’s cumulative lie count? Serious question; just curious.

Lies are. If there were one we do agree upon, then yes, I will condemn them. Depending on if they are ones that effect National interests, as opposed to lower level things, they will be given various levels of concern. Again, all politicians lie, are corrupt, and self serve to various extents imo. Therefore, if he/she looks out for our national interests in a way that we think is correct and best for us, that is what matters more.
Excellent. What do you - as a disaster-related professional - make of Trump's lie about hurricane Dorian and the risks to Alabama?

What do you think about the harm done when Commerce/NOAA then threw NWS/Al under the bus to cover for Trump?

On a scale of 1-to-10 how scummy is that?

Probably not, on the basis that is was not thought necessary.

No one in the hurricane zones, citizens included, listens to a POTUS on an approaching hurricane, everyone knows that is for TV up service. They listen to the NWS and even closer to their local authorities who have more pinpoint information regarding their local situation. The rest of the nation don’t even concern themselves unless a family member, a summer property or commodity interruption occurs. As to the other thing. I am not aware of that. Must have had less of an impact than you thought.

There you go: excuses found, nothing to see here, move on.

Let's try another: what about Trump's birther lie?

Hey fellow, I live on a hurricane coast. You asked me what I think of that. I told you how it is generally viewed. If that does not fit your view or bashing agenda you don’t have to lower to smart assed remarks. We all know what you believe, it’s been done over and over to death. Do you really require continuous affirmation?
Is there a point to this?

Maybe, but lots of people have since done analysis. It shows exactly the same. Trump lies on a constant basis. Most days there is a very clear provable lie. With Obama there was around 20 in 8 years.

Not only that but Trump continues to repeat lies even after they have become public, not only that but doubles down on the lie. Obama, and Bush before him, either stopped repeating proven lies or corrected them.

Yes, there's a point. In a thread about Trump. You want to get traction for your squirrel about someone else's lies. But you cannot change the subject so easily - if you care about lies, there's an elephant in the room.

So what about Trump's birther lie?

No, I never believed that. There is multiple ways in which a birth certificate in Hawaii could be technically wrong, but I have no idea. Since the issuing State office in Hawaii verified it, I go with that. How would I or most anyone know otherwise? Trump, as well as other office seekers, accuse and float all manner of conspiracies to do campaign battle. Happens all the time. Again though, I do not believe it.

Here is a point that will may not match the groupthink here. Trump yesterday signed an order to send water from the San Joaquin reservoir to California farmers who are facing a drought. California has a $54 billion agriculture economy. The state’s Governor, Newsom, has sued to stop this as he claims environmentalist say the water is needed to flow out to the sea to aid certain fish. The U.S. Department of the Interior indicated that those findings are out of date and not applicable. California revenues were down 20% under Obama and have increased by 50% under Trump. That obviously does not sit well with the Dems that run California so they are resorting to outdated fish data to cover their political agenda. They cannot bear that Trump is helping them. The California AG is suing to block the water from ever reaching the farmers.
Not being able to please everyone all the time, I would submit that helping the farms that produce the most food of any state outweighs conflicting threats to certain fish. That said, there is a federal plan to supplement the fisheries that is coming online as a separate program.
