I've just purchased a private registration plate (directly from DVLA). I'm guessing that I'll just get paperwork sent from them so will need to get private plates ordered. Can I do that in advance of the paperwork or will I need the paperwork before I order the plates.

Also, where's a good place to buy the plates from? I'd like to get plates that allow me to specify the exact look of the plates (within UK regulations of course).

Fancyplates will do them (based in Eire) wiyhout any papers. They won't be BS stamped or numbered, but who cares?

The quality can sometimes be suspect however so if they do a range of different quality I would ask for the best.

They do do them BS stamped if you want, so legal without the hassle of scanning registration documents.

If you are truly making plates within the U.K. regulations, then you can get them made up at authorised suppliers, Halfords is one. They will need the certificate of entitlement before accepting your order and can be made up while you wait.

What is the look you are after within U.K. regs? They are pretty inflexible.

I bought my recent set from here:

https://www.platesforcars.co.uk/index.html

No need for paperwork and a great selection of sizes for shorter plates etc and BS marked if you want as well.

Ive bought over 20 sets from Fancy Plates, the delivery is lightning fast and the quality has been 100% on every set. Never had an issue with no BS mark etc and every set comes with both sticky pads and screws and coloured caps.

The look I'm after is having the GB Euro symbol, and I didn't want any advertising branding on the number plate (so a nice clean look).

Is it denial? Or a dig at a bloody stupid decision?

I thought we'd still need to the Euro GB plate in order to drive in Europe despite Brexit changes. Is that not the case? What kind of registration plate will I need to get to be covered for driving on mainland Europe in the future?

The Euro GB plate isn't a requirement now.

You can drive on a normal, 'plain' number plate but you do need to have a GB sticker on the back of the car. Same will apply in the future.

I’ve got a couple of spare Euro badges if you’d like ‘em. laugh

Just get them online - either from Scotland or the Channel Islands where the idiotic legislation doesn't apply. What this legislation is actually meant to prevent is a total mystery to me - if you can get a plate without documentation with next day delivery then it makes a total mockery of whatever the legislation was meant to prevent,.
