What's the PH view on pubs - as in how to keep them going in light of the PM announcement?

Seems reckless to carry on using them as before.

But they will need support.

Take away food?

A few around where I live have already started doing take away food to try and get by.

from what I’ve heard there’s been a reasonable uptake from at least one so fingers crossed it will
help them through

Those with pub gardens could surely serve you through a window take payment contactless and you social distance while drinking.

The chancellor has offered £330Bn in loans but that was not really what I had in mind - that is more a last resort.

I'd rather find a way to support our local vulnerable pubs instead of them having to get a loan to survive and face interest etc. on their running costs for who knows how long.

We need some nice sunny weather so we can sit in the Beer garden. The local by the river was busy yesterday.

I went last night for a few scoops.

I did cut back on snogging the barmaid in the car park though.

Me and a few mates including a couple that are in inisolation are all going on a webcam chat on Friday with a couple of jars, creating a virtual pub for Friday beers.

My local is open an hour a day for take out only. I bought a couple of bottles of wine.

They’re still serving draught- so I need to find a suitable vessel and head back tomorrow laugh.

How much beer can you fit in a surplus ventilator?

It might be possible for everyone to get through the Covid 19 caused situation we face now, if it is possible for everyone to give everyone else the bit of slack they need to get by, and put as much as possible on hold.
Probably wont happen because there will probably be some organizations, or people who will still expect to be paid in full and on the nail, even when they themselves are being given a bit of slack by the people `they' owe cash to. they just wont extend that bit of relief to the people who owe them.

My son in law manages a traditional busy pub in Putney & he's been told he's only allowed 1 bar person & 2 chef's , the rest he has to lay off.

Nio Rugby, No Fulham & Chelsea & worst of all no Boat Race .

Tough times ahead,

I’m in a hotel bar right now, with I reckon 30 other people.

I can’t see my local staying open as it’s main clientele is elderly diners hehe

MY local is staying open as long as possible but is going contactless payments only where possible and advising people not to sit too close to each other(not that will be difficult, sometimes there is only5 or 6 of us in during the weeklaugh)

I can understand vibrant city centre pubs being a high risk but surely small remote pubs that mainly has its locals as the only customers most of the time should be pretty much ok.

What is the consensus view on going into a take away / fish and chip shop at the moment?.
My local chippie does some really, really nice food, but would going there be a no no, as far as keeping oneself out of harms way with regard to coronavirus?

Chancellor has covered it all, catch up on his announcements and more to come.
