Not sure my local will survive, am quite tempted to put an offer in, it would make a cracking house conversion, although not sure I would be popular with the locals.

^This is a great source of concern to me. Pubs, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, music venues, all being gobbled up and presenting a 'nice opportunity' for someone not in the business to re-purpose them. I can see huge chunks of our arts and culture going and by culture I don't mean just the high-brow, arthouse bks, but the very fabric of our national pysche - the pubs.

My favourite local's been open throughout two world wars (Tolkein allegedy visited during training for WW1, as he was stationed nearby) but might not survive Covid 19.

Repurposing of pubs around our way isn't that straightforward, and I suspect our council will be resistant to any immediate change until the Covid situation is dealt with one way or the other.

That said, pubs have been on their knees for years. Especially in rural areas IME.

Yes, local in question was normally taking £15k on a good week and not really raking in the profit at that, but with initial Covid nonsense was at about £5k.

Noticed the corner of old gimmers were still in situ last time I was inside. Post mtb ride, we'd normally opt for the beer garden for the fresh air. However, in winter, the landlord used to provide old towels for us to sit our muddy arses on after a night ride - it was that sort of place. Dogs weren't just welcome, they didn't even need to be on a lead, let alone kept of seats. Are real pub IMHO.
