It’s time their fate was highlighted so applaud his efforts personally. I am astonished how little Muslim countries have done to challenge China, especially when set against their reaction to a few harmless cartoons or The Satanic Verses.
It's even more mind boggling than that. They all signed a letter praising China's human rights record.

Given the human rights infringements in many of those nations, that's hardly an endorsement. More a confirmation of just how little they really care.

Ugh, fking economists. A lot of them are complete fantasists and unfortunately usually escape unscathed from the idiotic ideas they peddle.

Agreed. The admission of culpability from Krugman is laughably constrained.

The detail missed - the impact on developed economies, not least the fact that jobs are destroyed far, far faster than new ones are created - is a mistake that could only be made by an anti-fragile who's never built a business or worked in the real economy.

Large mass of people rounded up , disconnected from the outside world and put under curfew. It's not genocide but it's not exactly a pleasant situation for those concerned.
I dont see the parallel personally.

The Kashmir situation is obviously complex but resembles an armed insurgency, where as far as I understand the Uyghurs are not armed; are not organized as Mujahideen and are not armed, trained and given sanctuary by a foreign power.
Dont get me wrong Kashmir is not right but it is not like what is happening in China.

Are the Uyghurs the wrong type of Muslim?

You know, like the whole sunni and Shia disputes.

Is that why there is no protests or bombings in china, no aircraft into buildings that sort of thing?

Or is it money again, the Chinese pay well and buy compliance?

I'm pretty sure there were uyghur seperatists, riots etc. They are both gross human rights violations thats for sure..

I did have a bit of a read up on it but then I got bogged down in it and couldn't actually satisfactorily answer my own questions.

It seems that once again it boils down to CCP being bellends about things and these guys being Islamic outliers having been islamified around the 10th century.
