Its the apparent piling in of one on the other to lay in a metaphorical boot or punch after the laws already dealt or is dealing with the offender.

The law dealing with her and deciding the punishment is enough, theres no need for extra judicial punitive measures to be taken by anyone.
Isn't that free speech though?

I thought you wanted that.
I'm trying to think of other threads where 'perpetrators' get the full wrath of the moral 'something must be done' brigade, regardless of them paying for their crimes.

Not read all the comments but I found her strangling her dog without even realising equally as disturbing, if not more. Glad to hear she's been sacked and the dog taken off her.

It happens in pretty much all professional companies. Dodge your train fare and get caught, and you're out of a job. I think it's the same with drink driving too if you get a criminal record.

The job loss aspect as a punishment does not sit well with me at all, its simply put someone who may well be a model employee and capable too out of work.
[employee] Hello, boss, as an African American working here I’m not sure I’m comfortable with this. Can you have a look at this video?

[boss] Aw, for fks sake. But she’s *amazing* at spreadsheets, can she stay, pleeeeease?

[everyone with a brain] Are you mental?

Sorry if this point has already been made, I haven’t read the whole thread. What this woman did was far more than make a false accusation.

America is the country where unarmed black men get shot by the police.

Her call was very deliberate “an African American man is threatening me”. Without watching the video again I believe she said it at least twice. What was the relevance of stating his ancestry other than as a coded message for the cops? It’s not an exaggeration to say her humongous over-reaction to being called out for her own wrong-doing could have had serious consequences for the bird fancier. I’ve been on a few American based forums and the consensus seems to be she knew exactly what she was doing in this regard.

No sympathy for Karen whatsoever.

Me too
Well particularly as Karen already had a bad rep for being hysterical about Coronavirus. Hence all the comments about "angry Karen on facebook".
As usual you're wrong:

Higher % based on population, but more white people overall shot.

There are many more white people, correct?

You can't cherry-pick your stats.

US is

60% non-Hispanic whites
18% Hispanic & Latino
13% African American
6% Asian
1.3% Native Americans
0.2% Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander

Your graph in raw numbers would naturally show more white people shot overall as there are 3x more white people than black people. However, look at it per million of the population and it's a different story.

Agree entirely, but you carefully omitted to quote where I actually already said "Higher % based on population"?

So being black you are nearly 3x times likely to die in a police shooting than a white person, pretty clear to me the disparity.

yes clearly a big problem, although its a very complex situation all round. that people like the woman in the article appear to still be happy to use race when they think it suits them is quite astounding, and imho she got what she deseved.

It wasn't in your post when I quoted you, I didn't 'carefully omit' anything.

sorry for the confusion, i removed my post as i wasnt sure the stats on that site were accurate, but having looked more i think they are. All in all though from what i can see the question of police bias in the us seems to be very uncertain, with a lot more aspects that come into play such as officers being far more likely to shoot their own race, more likely to patrol areas that have people mostly of their own race etc..., and it doesnt help either side to over-simpify things.

I may be wrong but I'm 99.9% certain I straight quoted it. No way of knowing unless a mod can see a user's post edit history but in any case his post was correct once clarified.

Either way the two sets of stats do show how differently a story can be presented.

now imagine this x 100000 everyday, but not camera. Also this bloke was a respected prison, but what happens if they are poorer, it is a horrible situation and clearly should be addressed by all of us around the world through challenging actions like this.

yeah np, as i said i removed it and quite possibly i edited it too, i dont recall.
But yes you are entirely correct about how stats can be used to present quite opposing views, my point was i think its important to avoid sweeping statements without being sure of them, and the stats and research suggests that the overall picture is far from clear at this point.

yes it boggles the mind that people can still apparently take these things so lightly that they would resort to race so easily and over something so trivial.
