Good video.

Interesting how much of a relative one trick pony he found it.

Not really, the 812 from launch was immediately labelled a Supercar first and foremost. As the run-out V12, the engine and ‘one-it’ feel were always going to dominate. If you want a Ferrari GT, buy a Lusso.

Harry seemed surprised.

Another great unbiased, straight to the point video from the master..I found it very interesting to hear his opinion on the seats where he strongly recommended to choose the comfort ones as opposed to the CF Race ones..He also expressed very strongly that all the exterior vulnerable and expensive Carbon fibre was totally unnecessary and basically a waste of money..
As someone who's hoping to buy an 812 when prices stabilise i think Harry has just saved me a ton of money..

Another typically excellent review - i thought Harry really enjoyed the car, which ain’t hard ! His criticism was entirely fair and as an owner i agree with his points. The gearing is needlessly short, if 7th gear was longer it would be a more restful GT. Also the spec on that press car is quite marmite, lots of silly exterior carbon and the uncomfortable race seats in Alcantara. I purposely avoided those and skipped the exterior carbon nonsense and went for a subdued dark blue colour. Ferrari like most high end cars can be very spec sensitive.

Interesting that you as a long term 812 owner agrees pretty much with HM..This further clarifies my decision to get comfort seats and avoid external carbon when i decide to get one..
Another point is i'd never get a red one but a Blue or Grey instead.

The blue one that sold on Collecting Cars is still being advertised, Tom Hartley also has one.

Yep, all fair points that he made, including how ridiculous the option pricing is with Ferrari. Although Mclaren are the same, but for the massive discounts. I got to over £300 large and that is without all the exterior carbon crap, no tailor-made options, etc. at £260k the car is priced about right, mid 300's and it's very overpriced and that is one of the reasons the market values it less and has priced them used accordingly. in the low 2's it's actually decent value i think, certainly compared to other modern super cars.

Don't think the bright red's have ever suited V12 Ferrari's, not for me at least, except possibly the F12 which seems to look fantastic in any colour. For me the V12 generates more than enough attention, without the need for a bright colour.

Whatever you do, don't drive one, as if you do you might struggle to restrain yourself from added one to your stable of fantastic pork.

Great advice..I enquired about the Blu Electrico 812 DL had for sale a few weeks ago..It was up for £249k but rather stupidly due to Covid-19 lockdown and the fact it didn't have the Carbon seats and exterior carbon i lost interest..By the time i phoned them a second time it had sold..
HM's video has made me alter my criteria for my personal 'must haves' on a 812..On your comment on having a test drive, its spot on and why i hardly ever drive cars unless i've already bought them as i'm a terribly impulsive buyer as my long suffering wife will testify.

Great video and as always good hotel steers which I have added to my list for future reference. Also a delight to see someone criticising the carbon racing seats which are, for no reason I could ever understand, always touted every time someone on PH enquires about Ferrari “must have” options

The CF race seats are brilliant on 458/488 and i've done 4-5 hrs straight with no issues..Until i watches HM's video i also thought they were 'must haves' on F12s/812 however i now have a preference for the electric heated comfort ones on these cars.

Do remember buckets come in 2 sizes, so if they are the standard ones as they appear to be in the spec sheet, they are not fit for long travel, touring size are, with the trade of some support.

The Ferrari CF Race seats comes in three sizes on 458/488 and are the Large size on mine..If the 812 HM drove had the smaller sized ones then it partly explains his negative views on them..However his biggest complaint was the passenger seat was far too low with no height adjustment.
Well spotted on the spec sheet Luigi.

I have been looking for a 812 Superfast and Harry's review has put me off buying one. (Video is excellent by the way). The car is just too highly strung to be a comfortable GT car. Seats can be specced differently but the "urgency" of the engine and also the width of the car would make it difficult (for me) to live with on a day to day basis.

I’ve done London to Le Mans in mine and it was absolutely fine, and London to Davos in my old F12 which was also perfectly comfortable. Trick is to use the cruise when on the empty French autoroutes, the throttle is as you say a little too sharp, especially considering the gearing. Width i have never found to be too restrictive. It’s not as wide as the Aston’s or 488 i think, in fact it’s not as wide as a Range Rover. You do still low and far back behind an endless bonnet, so it does initially feel a bit intimidating, but you soon get used to it.

I didn’t find the large cf race buckets comfortable in a 488 i ran in the past, i found the Daytona style seats more suitable for its non track remit.
