Essentially they are being used to maintain the fear factor and keep us compliant. They are the most visible form of showing we are/are not conforming to the rules.

Masks have done nothing to reduce the number of infections. Some blame it on social distancing not being adhered to when in public places, but I think that's a reach.
Ive noticed since masks were made mandatory, social distancing just stopped. And infections/cases have been rising since they were introduced and spread..
Are masks giving the wearer a feeling of invisibility? Remember back in March/April when people would jump out of you way coming down the street?...
Thats long gone! Now its a free for all in supermarkets, but thats ok as we have masks....
So social distancing (which has some benefit) has been elbowed by 'face coverings' which unless med grad are useless.
Oh, rubbish masks might stop droplets when one sneezes, but who doesn't sneeze/cough into their elbow? If we all done that, then no need for masks?

I’ve never worn one, never will. I’m just playing devils advocate to see what the general consensus is regarding masks against cases. And this: https://www.coronababble.com/post/five-good-reason...

The mask act lasts until next July so I doubt the mandate to wear them will be relaxed before then.

We still get a few good 'jumpers' each week as we walk down the street maskless. You can see their terror behind their masks. Insane.

distancing went away overnight here when the masks came in , plus some shops were only allowing one shopper instead of mum , dad , nan and 8 kids , thats stopped too And infections/cases have been rising since they were introduced and spread..

From your perspective
Why not try some critical thinking and put yourself in the shoes of the 'jumpers' .... ?
I have done and my conclusion is exactly the same, insane. Why not try some critical thinking and put yourself in the shoes of the 'jumpers' .... ?
perhaps they are elderly, anxious, frightened (possibly only read DM and watch the 'news'), frail, have comorbidities, possibility not as clever as some to realise it is only a 'cold', are carers - the list goes on and on (in my world any way)
but its just so much easier for some to label them 'jumpers' I s'pose

I reckon most are just stupid or naturally compliant.

The problem is slowly common sense and community spirit is being eroded, common decency towards other humans is out of the window because (and sorry for being blunt) I believe the public are very thick.
They don't question anything - they just watch BBC or Sky and believe everything they see . Then they are peer pressured by messaging like "STAY AT HOME DON'T KILL YOUR GRANNY" and "WEAR A MASK TO PROTECT OTHERS" - classic divide and conquer.

If that’s true, then why are masks still mandatory?WestyCarl said:
