This is a balls up, its embarrassing now, and watch as the governments of the world try to weasel out of it whilst trying to maintain some kind of integrity.
Propblem is that given how media sensitive the current gov have turned out to be. They daren't not "U Turn" again for fear of being labelled "wreckless, incompetent, etc etc etc " by our fearmongering department that is the MSM! djc said:
The hysteria over vaccines is quite ridiculous IMHO.
A well thought out vaccine with years of testing, not really a problem. One rished through which has also got legal indeminity for any side effects for the manufacturer is not the one I want near me!How many "safe things" given to people over the years cause all manner of problems. Primidos, Vaginal Mesh et al

It's almost affectionate; certainly if I called one of my friends an utter fknugget it would cause little consternation. They'd accept that I was mildly displeased with their actions however.
It's not something I've heard before. Perhaps it's a little less full-on than I'd thought? paulguitar said:

If you can see someone's struggling to hear you (and you're comfortable with it) ask them if they'd like you to lower your mask. They'll either say yes, no, or ask you to repeat yourself as they've not heard you

The guy took his mask down so it was all good and communication was succesful.
Funnily enough, he tried speaking slower and louder first!

When someone tries to tell a deaf person what it's like to be deaf there's every need. Talk slowly to deaf people FFS, how condescending.
I happen to have a very deaf father, not condescending, just pure fact. The average person speaks fast, and a HOH person cannot process what he thinks he is hearing quickly enough to make it coherent. By speaking slowly, he has a chance to understand more words ( I wouldn't say all) and we can then have a sensible conversation. Condescending would be to speak louder.
If you are deaf or hard of hearing then I am sure you know all of that very well.
Out of interest, how many people do you know that can lip read? I have many older customers with hearing problems. Only 1 can lip read, it is a great skill. Most just struggle to hear and need the speech to be slower, so each word is pronounced clearly. Very few of us do that with our normal speech. I certainly don't.

I suspect rustednut has never encountered a deaf person. Ever!
Why? Because he would never have posted such claptrap.
One of the best ways to communicate with a deaf person is with 'facial' expressions and gestures. A tad difficult with a f mask on!

Wrong, on so many levels.

You lot seriously need to get a grip.
You may wish to be controlled with stupid ill thought out laws and regulations that do nothing except pay lip service to wkers who think they are "saving a life" by wearing a face covering. The rest of us believe in critical thinking. And can see what the thin edge of a wedge looks like....

Despite the governments own 5 level system, where 1 is a return to normal but cant actually ever be achieved. So the best we can hope for is being stuck at 2 forever.
I wonder what all the mask fans are going to do when the burka ban discussion comes back around again? Can't use the argument the government shouldn't force anyone to wear or not wear something anymore can they.
I hate the burka but been against a ban because for the same reason I don't like forced mask wearing. The government shouldn't be able to force anyone to or not to wear something.

Anyone else not too keen on the posts that say 'I didn't wear a mask so one in the eye for the man' etc. Not really something to be proud of.
i am with you.But it is not up to me to persuade people to follow the laws of the land.
Given up trying to change anybody's mind, it is down to individuals. Happy to put a mask on for the amount of times I have to do it. Can count it in minutes over the course of a week.
I wear 1 at work more often than I wear 1 when I am not at work. Been doing it for years, never had any of this illness that is likely to be caught from wearing a mask, or struggled to breathe, or unable to communicate, or express facial gestures.
I just feel annoyed for those with genuine reasons not to wear 1, who might get challenged because too many others just won't wear 1. But such is life.
PS I stuck to arbitrary speed limits today because I'm a sheeple. Didn't get upset at wearing a mask in a shop, though.
