CV19 - Cure worse than the disease? (Vol 5)
Discussion
Tried to post this on the last volume:
The next general election is up to 4 years away. Starmer knows that there’s nothing to be gained and everything to lose from being in charge during this utter clusterfk of a situation. If he waits till this is pretty much over, he can then, with 20/20 hindsight, point to any other country of his choosing & accuse Johnson of costing x thousand lives and y billion pounds by not following whatever the “better” country did. He can then take over after the next election, Atlee style.
Scotland is a bit different. Next election is scheduled for next Spring (April, May?) and Richard Leonard seems to have finally awoken from his torpor and started landing blows on Sturgeon. The one about her failure to predict the outbreaks in Universities seemed to particularly rattle her. I suspect you might see more highlighting of Sturgeon’s mistakes over the next few months while Starmer largely keeps quiet.

Laughable.
Have you noticed how the Labour opposition put up some very weak ripostes & soundbites, but when it comes down to it they concur with all of the action & decisions that Boris takes in relation to Covid?
Boris doesn't have a clue, and neither does Kier Starmer. Kier is being sensible enough to agree with Govt directives "for the good of the UK", without taking any responsibility.
I would put good money down that if Kier was offered the PM role tomorrow, he would turn it down. Once the Covid thing is over, the Tories will replace Boris and Kier will become more of a challenger to whoever steps up on the Tory plate.

Funny watching Oliver Dowden being unable to explain why it's ok to sit on a plane for eight hours cheek to joul, but football matches are different. These people are mad, quite mad.
Having been puzzled by the bizarre job support scheme, I can only assume that the coming unemployment is planned. It must be about creative destruction. This will be like the deindustrialization of the early 1980s on steroids. It's ironic that it is largely driven by left wing academics and scientists who have proposed and driven the lockdown strategy. But with no training on offer, they are taking a hell of a gamble that the market can sort this.

It's like the Cabinet asked Witty etc al 'How do we control the spread of this virus?' And got in reply 'oh, that's easy. Lockdown'. 'But we've panned the economy!' 'You only asked about controlling the spread of the virus, you never mentioned the economic impact...'Having been puzzled by the bizarre job support scheme, I can only assume that the coming unemployment is planned. Are any politicians talking sense from either of the main parties? Or are they all hamstrung by SAGE and the 'experts'.
As far as I can remember, the opposition has questioned nothing. They have rubber-stamped, or, rather, cheered on, everything that the Tories have done.ant1973 said:

Airplanes don’t typically have people shouting / screaming at the top of their lungs and projecting aerosols meters into the air. That said, in the current circumstances, there’s no way you’d find me getting on a plane and turning right
