Once again the media is getting on my tits (ITV news this time) saying we’ve got a generation of young adults who are on the scrap heap and universities are failing them. What a load of bks.
They have a point, however it’s not due to Covid hehe £30k+ of debt for the bks they ‘teach’ over three years rofl

22 million people in UK have at least one underlying health condition, near 9 million registered disabled.

For those who are ok with this disease saying this only kills the old and the sick, you sound a bit like the people who in the 80s said that AIDS "only killed the gays..."

I have severe asthma, been hospitalised as a kid but blew through it supposed to be on inhalers all my life but as a kid I did every sport possible. I have the lung capacity of a female 3 inches shorter than I am (peak flow meter chart) but kept fit enough to still be able to compete with mates 2 or 3 inches taller than me when playing football etc.

Worked all through this pandemic and im a big fan of opening things up and if you die you die.

For that to be relevant you’d have to break it down further, as in health conditions adversely affected by Covid...
Exactly. Usual hysterical nonsense.

It would also be useful to separate the genuinely stty end of the stick from those who were maybe marginal and had a damn good go at turning it into a full-on underlying condition.

Stats don't lie man, from today ...

The age ranges hidden on the right are 75-79 and 85-89 with the last one blank but presumably 90+

No one is saying it is ok that I can see but surely you acknowledge that old people are more likely to die of *absolutely anything* vs young people? At what point and at what cost do you try and get "old deaths" down to almost zero? Plus if that is your aim what are you doing and where are all your tears for the many other causes of death of the elderly?

Is this a good time for another mention of the 50m dead of Spanish flu 100 years ago? 500m infected too which was about 33% of the world population at the time. Yes the human population has grown by 6bn ish since then but don't worry nothing to see there ...

Imagine the snow flakes angst if we had social media 100 years ago spin

Not sure what you’re saying here.
Mentioning 50m dead but also talking about human population growth.
Does this mean we’re likely to see a higher death rate due to a higher population?

You probably could do, but 50m dead isn't a rate without considering population size.

I can imagine an influx if we get another lockdown (and the subsequent backlash?)

You would get a very similar result from a chart of Cancer, Heart deaths etc. The point is we have never discriminated against age for health related interventions and we should not start to do so now just to suit an agenda.

The new google map layer raises a lot of questions. Compare the uk and our neighbours against china and its neighbours, including india with its overcrowding etc. Of course the data accuracy can be questioned, but fundamentally something doesnt feel right.

They suggest that the figures they're using include both confirmed and probable cases and say that areas with a "0" aren't necessarily free of Coronavirus, they just haven't published their data or updated it recently.

They give their data sources as Wikipedia, The New York Times, JHU CSSE COVID-19 Data and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

I don't think I'll be relying on it for a 100% accurate take on the global situation.

Fishy?, in what way?.

Key risk factors are obesity, diabetes and Vitamin d deficiency. Add to that BAME being twice as likely to catch it on average (from memory) due to the jobs they do.

So despite the whole country having social distancing, and the North East having extra lock down measures in place, earlier today in Newcastle City Centre I spotted a gathering of around 30 female students huddled together around a few tables indoors, laughing, drinking, having a meal together, in one of the city's trendy restaurants, in full view of the passing public.

No distancing, no masks, extremely unlikely to be same family. Didn't appear to be a quick bite to eat and out, looked like they were in for the afternoon.

How?

(and yes, the important PH duties, they were very pretty!)
