So let’s say for one second the laptop stuff is real and Hunter used his dads name to make a load of money.

Are we saying that makes Biden unfit to be president?
If emails are real it would show that Biden lied when he said he had not met Hunters boss and it will also raise questions of malfeasance regarding Ukraine policy and money for political favors when Biden was VP. Also it may raise the question of whether the impeachment was done to stop any more dirt being dug up by Trump.

Its up to the voters to decide whether this makes him unfit for office but they have the right to know the story and the media have an obligation to report it.
The fact that he will not deny the authenticity of the emails is very bad optics for Biden. This won't go away.............

I'm not sure this is true, BR. It might be a bit like Richard Dawkins making the decision not to debate creationists.

On the basis that 21,000 lies and counting hasn't ruled Trump fit for office, that's quite the stretch.

Ha ha maybe. I think he should get ahead of it, but I guess we will see. My sense is if we were 3 months till the election he would have done more damage control.

And all that would happen is Trump would find something else. It seems to have been the policy of the Biden campaign to basically just ignore Trumps garbage so far and not get dragged in to a slagging match, which seems like a good plan. The dementia, the drugs test stuff, it has just been ignored and let Trump rant. That’s the way Trump works.

Tucker Carlson, on his show, has just reported that he had documents that totally nailed Hunter and Joe

Unfortunately, they were sent by courier, and the package was opened by persons unknown - result is no documents. Obviously the deep state in action.

Shock, horror, this was the only copy. No one thought to send a scanned copy in advance, or keep a scanned copy as back up...

Well, at least the dog didn’t eat them.

How convenient - asked to provide proof, Calson Tucker says they've lost the only copy of the documents providing proof against hunter biden

Two points:

These arent the same documents which were blocked by twitter et al, and
Whetever they said, would you believe them or are they still to do with Russa?

Another thought ocured to me: Twitter and facebook have really helped Biden. When do they start saying "...and now you can help us by.."

K-street corporate lobbyists have been a thing in US politics for a long, long time. Did the thought that firms look for favours from politicians they have financed/ supported just occur to you? For example, the coal industry supported Trump, and got favours in return. The oil industry supported LBJ, and got favours in return. The defence industries supported Reagan, and got favours in return. It isn't something "Big Tech" have invented in the last few years

From 1891

(edited to add - it was one of the supposed strengths of Trump that as he had a strong brand recognition, he wouldn't be as beholden to the lobbyists as other candidates. Obviously made no difference, as the bulk of the lobbying effort is actually in Congress, where laws get written and passed, not at the executive)

Difference now is that Bigtech/media can actually suppress information and slant it on such a scale that it becomes election interference. This is whats new and become apparent with suppressing the Biden story. Sure all lobbyists want favors after the election but its quite another thing to try and suppress information beforehand. Congress really needs to break up Big Tech. Right now rumors are that Amazon are looking to buy CNN from AT@T! Likewise Bloomberg shoveling money into Biden's campaign while owning such a media empire needs to be questioned.

As opposed to Hearst or Murdoch in pre internet days? Or Murdoch today? LBJ's/ Kennedy's womanising was actually suppressed by the media of the time - so what extra suppression do you see now?

I do agree that Big Tech needs the antitrust busters to get stuck in. And Citizens United was one of the most dangerous Supreme Court judgements - equating money with free speech and removing contribution limits, so allowing Bloomberg/ Koch/ Soros/ Billionaire of your choice undue influence. Note that that was a ‘conservative’ campaign/ win.

This presumes that "big tech" is the primary source for news.

To me that seems to be the thing we should be aiming to change.

If people choose to see the world through the lens of facebook or twitter, how do we change that?

No rhetorical btw, would welcome solutions for discussion.
