The answer to your question is hysteria.

Decisions will be based on:

the number of positive tests for covid - even if the people testing positive are low risk or even asymptomatic (see students).

Hospital admissions. The NHS will be ‘overwhelmed’. Just like it is most winters, but this year it’ll be a covid crisis so many will panic.

Combine the above and we will need most of the country in Tier 3 measures and/or a circuit breaker lockdown.

It’s madness, but it’ll happen.
Isn't the government's plan to wipe out the whole economy?

Restaurants who spent 500k setting up outdoor pods to solve the issue allowing them to trade, well the govt can just lockdown the whole town to stop even those working.

Just in case there are still business which manage to operate through lockdown, well we'll make sure there is no Brexit deal so that your imports will be so expensive, we can wipe out your business that way.

If there is anything left, well we will give away lots of money so that allows us to increase tax so punitively that any r surviving businesses can be wiped out.

There, that should do it. We are now ready to hand over to Labour. They thought it was funny when they left saying "there is no money left in the pot", well we can go one better. How about completely wiping out the nation?
A bit early to have drunk so much already ?

Why is that at all obvious ? Huge swathes of the country are currently showing fewer deaths than the 5-year average :

Unless that changes, what justification would there be for lockdown in those areas ?
Is these September stats?
They is wink the current figures from the ONS; week ending October 9th. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunit...

what a cretin - you can see from the article on Scottish house parties that people will (quite rightly) just continue doing their own thing

It's a win-win - infections go down, he made the right decision, infections go up, it was because people didn't obey the rules. Any economic fallout? All the fault of the Tory government.

I don’t get how gyms can stay open, how can they be Covid safe with people sweating on everything. I was talking to a chap at work today who said his son caught it from going to the gym. It seems that some scoucers stamp their feet and have a paddy that the gyms have shut and they want them reopened for their mental health so they are aloud to reopen them.

Well that's conclusive then.

I've not been to the gym since March as since they re-openned you've to book a slot and getting one at a convenient time has become hard work.

Generally it doesn't seem to bother the fit and healthy, reason enough to keep them open IMO. Nothing makes sense anymore with all this bullst.

Covid isn't transferred through sweat.

I started back at the gym last month.
Only allowed 40 people at any one time, and you have to book your time.
On entry, you wash your hands and are given a cloth and spray bottle of sanitizer.

Before using any equipment you give it a spray, and again after you’ve done.
The staff are constantly going around cleaning equipment too.

At the end of your session you drop the cloth and bottle in a box at the exit.

Seems to work well, and I assume many gyms are doing the same as the infection rates in gyms is very low.

Not tears and blood is very rare/unknown.

If a gym follows guidelines it's about the most covid-safe place you can be.

I didn't think I would see a return to a full lockdown from any European nation again given how destructive the last one was. Macron has big balls to be the first one back in.

I'm guessing Spain and a handful of other nations jump next then we will follow suite.

Nottinghamshire’s new Tier 3 rules from tomorrow include...

‘alcohol sales must be prohibited after 9pm where alcohol is purchased to consume off premises, for example shops. Alcohol can continue to be purchased in hospitality venues where accompanying a substantial meal, up until 10pm;‘

That’ll make a difference.

Same as lockdown 1 barring schools I thought? Still have to fill in a form to leave your house and stay in local neighbourhood. (1 mile)
